Slow

This could be called the "Slow Season." It's like they don't have enough content so are making it up with slow pans and smoldering looks.

A bit slow but worth it for what's to come.

Although the pace is a little slow at this point, I'm sure it will speed up as past seasons have done. The main cast is great like always. However, I think Oleg Burov's story this season is boring. It's what is slowing the show down. I really like Oleg when he was in America interacting with Stan but this Russian food corruption storyline is a waste of time.

Strong episode with good focus on characters

Phillip and Elizabeth start to develop new sources.

This is a strong episode with some good character development, parallels between characters and the USA and USSR.

The story is mostly character focussed and feels like the start of a slow burn with the Jennings get deeper into the new mission. This change of pace is notable, but I appreciate that in series 4 the writers had wrapped up some very suspenseful plots that had been building since the show began, so there is a need to develop some new arcs that will take time to gather momentum. It's not as if the writers can realistically dump another exciting situation on our laps without laying the foundations first.

That being said for me there is still plenty of intrigue in what is presented as all characters are still going through pretty interesting situations. Paige, Stan, Oleg and Mischa all have compelling scenes. What we see from Phillip and Elizabeth is very much business as usual, but given what they have been through so far and how their feelings for each other are developing it does put a different slant on how they might be approaching their jobs.

The theme of food runs heavily through the writing along with the economic positions of the US and USSR during the mid eighties. All this continues to be done well in the writing and visuals.

All performances are as strong as ever with Holly Taylor and Noah Emmerich standing out for me.

Well I made it to Season 5

There was a good interview I read with Keri and the bloke with a 100 faces (which all look the same). They were asked about all the sex, and said the series needed it, yep cause without that it has pretty much zero. And she does have a nice @@@@ if it's not a body-double.

I will be surprised if this is ever shown again on TV, with the world as it is and if anyone had 1% of caring for the lead characters I very much doubt that would happen today, As for the series yes it's meant to be entertainment, but its just so stupid. They are better then Bond. Even without world events, I hope they both get, what they both deserve.

Speed it up.

I agree with this being the slow season. Was there a writer's strike or something? Speed it up, will ya?
