David Durston: Going for the Jugular (2016)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Director David Durston is the subject of this hour long interview. Durston recorded this before his dead in 2010 and this would be released on the Blu-ray of I DRINK YOUR BLOOD, the director's 1970s cult favorite. The director starts off talking about his love of cinema, which started when his mother took him to see the Mary Pickford movie SPARROWS. From here he talks about getting into the business and we learn about the making of films like THE BLUE SEXTET and of course I DRINK YOUR BLOOD. That film gets the majority of the 59-minute running time as the director shares stories about the production, the cast and it's release. He also shares a few stories about Bela Lugosi and John Huston. This is a really good interview that touches on a great number of subjects but some of the highlights includes him talking about his anger at Jerry Gross for changing the title to I DRINK YOUR BLOOD even though the film had nothing to do with that.
