Out of the 4 CW superhero shows, Legends was the one I probably missed the least. It's always been fun, but there was nothing season 2 did to get me excited for season 3. Ending the season in a dinosaur- filled Los Angeles? Yeah that's not exactly an original idea from the Legends. And to be completely honest, before the show had its "last season on Legends of Tomorrow", I didn't remember a whole lot from last year.
So Rip shows up with the newly formed "Time Bureau" to shut down the Legends chance to save the city and they disband because they're told there is no longer a place for the time-jumping lunatics. Sounds like something we have seen before? Well, that's because it is. The Legends have already disbanded on several occasions, and believe it or not, they always come back together. It just felt like a tired idea, especially after just watching a Flash episode where Barry magically returned from the speed force in one episode, it was just downright annoying that the Legends had to separate and then come back together in a matter of minutes.
Speaking of Flash, Wally briefly made an appearance as Nate attempted to fight off crime in Central City for the "6 months" the Legends were separated. But the fun of Legends has always been the goofy but undeniably entertaining ways they team up as a group to fight a baddie. This year's big bad is yet to be determined, but Rip seemed to mention a certain name to his fellow Time Bureau member, so I'm sure it's not far off.
Much like the other two CW shows this week, it hasn't been the best of starts this year. I can't help but think that some shows are in dire need of a shake-up, and not necessarily a big shake-up. Just a few touches here and there and maybe a character or two and they could be on their way. So while Aruba-con was a fun concept in principal (it was about time they included Julius Caesar right?) it didn't have the execution that it needed.
