1.124: Sonnet #72: Good judgement on tone, even if it doesn't totally connect to the text in a meaningful way

Always interesting with this project to see what each film draws from the specific sonnet. They may not always be successful, but this project often surprises me by drawing on a tone that I didn't even think of – which is why I guess they are doing this and I am only viewing! In the case of Sonnet 72, there is a certain talk of death and of allowing the love to die, rather than become something less genuine by virtue of being talked about. The short film pushes that darker idea of death and end into its narrative.

I'm not sure it is wholly successful in doing so. The images and character don't completely line up with the text, and I was left a little out of the loop on who the actress was meant to be and what had happened to her. I chose to take her as a lost soul of sorts, drifting away from her life in the moments after whatever took her here, and speaking to those she left behind. As content I was stretching, but the tone of the piece was more suitable. I felt it worked with the text, and it helped that the text was very well and clearly delivered. Not one of the more memorable in the project, but it is a solid delivery nonetheless.
