This isn't a horror movie at all. You will disappoint yourself if you expect to see terryfying kalu kumara in action.

Sandares is a young sinhalese boy who falls in love with a rich tamil girl Vidya who is possessed by the Kalu Kumara AKA Black Demon/Gharasarapa/Black Prince.A demonic entity that haunts women to fulfill his evil desires.

Soon Kalu Kumara realizes that he has no place over the true love between this young couple. He decides to let Vidya go but he isn't the only barrier between Sandares & Vidya. They get separated by political & social conditions of the country which are way more powerful than Kalu Kumara.

Best Sinhala Movie of the Decade

It was beyond my expectations. And of course a tear jerker. Mr. Jayantha chandrasiri once again proved that he is the living legend of sinhala cinema. Kudos to entire cast!!

One of the Best

Since I am working in abroad, I missed the chance of watching the movie in a theatre and I regret that after seen the film recently. It was a wonderful masterpiece as always by Jayantha. Story line was great and how the past and future were connected in between was great. Both the young actors did a great job although it was there first film I felt as they were the true childhood of Kamal and Sageetha. Jayantha is the best in selecting the cast such as Uddika and Surya for Wadeesha, Kusum Renu and Tharuka for Viharamahadevi and Kavindya and Sangeetha in this movie. It was a great match. I cannot stop prasining Sangeetha's performance. Although it was a shorted time, she grabbed my attention away from all other characters. Also, the performances of Kamal, Kusum Renu, Wasantha, Sriyantha and the patients at the church should also be appreciated. But, I should say the wife of Kamal should have been played by none other than Yashodha Wimaladarma. The chemistry between Yashodha-Kamal-Sangeetha was much needed as it was in Guerilla Marketing. Amisha's performance were lacking through-out the film and she was not supportive enough for Kamal's character. That was the only minus thing I noticed. Other than that it was a great movie with a unique story. Thank you.

Very good movie

This gives a very good message regarding different knowledge systems and its applications, at the moment we can see that western science is considered to be the one and only knowledge system, but it is a joke, there are so many knowledge systems over the world. It is high time to think about this more and more and focus on our traditional knowledge systems for future betterment of the world.

Thoroughly enjoyable

I am not an ardent fan of sinhala movies but i pick and choose what I presume would be worth while my time and I was spot on with garasarpa.

Plot is simple; reuniting of childhood amourers at a later stage in life which is attributed to somewhat supernatural elements which are purely Sri Lankan. Yet Mr.Jayantha Chandrasiri does wonders with the plot and the casting is superb. Besides, the ending could not have been better. Hats off.
