Watchable crime comedy, but lacking that special ingredient...

I had not heard about this 2018 South Korean crime comedy titled "Gate" from director Shin Jai-Ho. But I initially found the movie's synopsis to be interesting enough. Plus, the fact that this was an Asian movie I hadn't already seen, also helped to make me want to sit down and watch it.

The storyline in "Gate", as written by from writers Lee Hyun-Chol and Song Chang-Yong, proved to be adequate enough. It made for an okay viewing, though it was not a particularly outstanding or memorable movie. While the script was entertaining enough for what it was, it was sort of a generic movie.

The acting performances in the movie were good, and there were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list.

While "Gate" certainly was an adequate viewing experience, this is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing, simply because the storyline and script just doesn't have sufficient contents to support more than a single viewing.

Not a gem in the South Korean cinema, but watchable for what it was, if you enjoy crime comedies.

My rating of "Gate" lands on a bland five out of ten stars.
