"Jailbait Summer" was produced on a bet, between actor/director Frank Crivelli,
and producer John Yingling.
The bet was that Jonathan Morrill could produce the worst motion picture,
in the shortest amount of time, with the least amount of money.
It is rumored that the budget was $100, and that $40 went towards alcohol,
another $40 went towards marijuana, and the remaining $20 went towards VHS tape stock.
Jailbait Summer was screened at the Waters Edge Cinema, on October 5th, 2019, in Provincetown, Massachusetts, for a benefit for the Provincetown Film Society. There was a Q and A session with the movies director, Jonathan Morrill, which was moderated by Tracy Pease, after the screening. During the Q and A, Morrill dismissed the story of the film being made because of a bet, as urban legend. Morrill told an abridged tale conveyed to him by Frank Crivelli, the Assistant Director, that back in 1975, John Yingling, the movie's producer, and he met up in Hollywood, California. The two wandered through the Hollywood Hills above the Sunset Strip, and over some libations, toasted to someday collaborating on a motion picture. Morrill analogized that the toast, made in front of the now defunct restaurant known as 'The Source', took 17 years to travel from Hollywood to Provincetown, but when it did, the toast became 'Jailbait Summer'. The feature was preceded by a preview trailer for Morrill's upcoming 'Skeleton Man' feature, and the music videos 'Enticing Victim', and 'Open Up Your Heart America', both by Clyde Shelby. The event screening was dedicated to the memories of Christlan Porter and Miele Conklin, who both starred in 'Jailbait Summer', and have since passed.
