A reference to A Clockwork Orange (1971) is made when David's sister takes him to the hospital she called Clockworks. Earlier in the episode there was a similar scene of Homeless David being attacked by a group of hooligans in a tunnel , same as an opening scene from A Clockwork Orange where the gang attacks a drunk homeless man in a tunnel
While David is getting coffee for his boss in the office building, behind him is a logo of a D with 3 bars inside of it, obviously a reference to Division 3
WILHELM SCREAM: the Wilhelm scream can be heard when two of the Division 3 soldiers are moved by "Old David's" power. The sound clip appears about 29 minutes into the episode.
This episode contains a cover of the 1969 song "Superman" by by Mitchell Bottler and Gary Zekley, originally recorded by The Clique and made famous in the mid-1980s by REM when they recorded it for their album Lifes Rich Pageant. The episode's cover was recorded by the series's showrunner, Noah Hawley, and its composer, Jeff Russo. Legion is a show based on Marvel Comics characters, while Superman is a superhero from the pages of Marvel's main rival company, DC Comics.
