Incredibly disjointed but well worth watching
AJ1089 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A plot full of holes you could drive a jugganaut through, and plenty of entirely random scenes/sub-'plot's, but for all that, a well-acted modern London-based adaptation of the ancient Greek tragedy.

The worst, most unbelievable bit for me was the central encounter/car crash scene: FFS, wouldn't they have had an emotional meeting? Apparently that was beyond the writer's expertise. For all that, nice locations and semi believable chacters. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, but it kept me engrossed to the end.

Nothing happens

Nothing happens, people stand around like statues moving their eyes...they walk around for a bit, nothing actually makes any sense. No point to this 'film' it's bland, depressive, lacks character, no character development, no acting, lots of standing around, then some walking, then a bit more eye movement and shuffling through papers. A bit more walking...then more statue scenes.

Unremarkable

Unremarkable film. Reading about the Greek Tragedy of Oedipus gave me a better understanding of the film, however, that said, the characters were one dimensional and the actors wooden and uninteresting.

A bit "arty" for my taste unfortunately and I wish I'd read up on Oedipus before watching this film. I won't get that 90 mins or so back again.

Full of emptiness
geewhiz468 January 2023
Oedipus revisited -by a cast of virtually unknowns and bit part actors who stare a great deal and do little else.

All the fuss and commotion and all he had to do was send a sample to a DNA lab - instead he walked a lot - stared a lot - and I mean A LOT. Pointless camera shots of empty elevators that went on and on - parks - nights in the city - trees in the wind.

I don't know what particular significance the title had.

I have no idea what relevance his surrogate mother had.

This seemed like an art house production - with all of that genre's pretentious pointless incomprehensible idea of what constitutes intelligence.

Avoid.
