Simon Callow on Charles Laughton (2010)
*** (out of 4)
Charles Laughton biographer Simon Callow is interviewed for this ten-minute featurette that has the author discussing the film THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER. He goes into some good detail about the production of the movie, why Laughton wanted to direct a picture and he gets into why it just didn't do much upon its original release. Fans of THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER will certainly enjoy the educational stories told here as you at least get a good idea of what the production was like and a better understanding of why Laughton was attracted to the material. His own homosexuality and his conflict with religion played a part in the film.
