Amazon Prime Video has ordered Lisa Azuelos’s “I Love America,” an L.A.-set modern comedy with French star Sophie Marceau as its next French Original movie.
Azuelos, a well-established filmmaker who previously directed Marceau in the hit French movie “Lol” (Laughing Out Loud) co-wrote “I Love America” with Gael Fierro. Autopilot is producing the film which will launch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in France, and around the world in 2022. The cast also includes Djanis Bouzyani, the actor of Hafsia Herzi’s “You Deserve a Lover.”
Marceau stars as Lisa, a single woman who decides to take a chance on love again by catapulting her life from Paris to Los Angeles. Her children flew the coop and her famous, yet absent mother just passed, so Lisa needs a big change.

"Intense." Blumhouse has debuted an official trailer for the indie horror film Sweetheart, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year in the Midnight section. This also just premiered at Fantastic Fest, and will be arriving on VOD in October for those who want to watch. This is the next film from up-and-coming filmmaker J.D. Dillard, who broke out with his film Sleight a few years back before bringing this one again to Sundance earlier this year. Kiersey Clemons stars in this as a woman who washes up on a deserted island beach, not sure where she is. She things she's alone until some kind of creature shows up at night. After making waves at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the Blumhouse project “Sweetheart” is set to hit digital and on demand platforms.
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will offer the film on all major streaming hubs and paid video on demand come Oct. 22, unleashing the creature feature which stars Kiersey Clemons in a harrowing tale of survival.
Up-and-comer Jd Dillard directs and co-writes on the project, which sees Clemons stranded on an idyllic remote island after her small boat sinks. As if basic survival wasn’t taxing enough on the young woman in the daylight, the island turns into a dangerous stalking ground at night when a mysterious predator steps out of the water in search of prey.
The film screens Thursday evening at Austin’s Fantastic Fest, where Dillard will be present. Jason Blum, Alex Theurer, Alex Hyner and Bill Karesh are executive producers on the project. The film co-stars Emory Cohen,...
