Kevin and Yvette decide that they have to deal with the mess that has ended up being Tyler's infatuation with the woman he met in Laos, he having moved to Victoria, British Columbia in search of "her", namely the phantom Leslie Nielsen who Kevin made up to let him down gently. Before Yvette meets Kevin in Victoria in order to break up with Tyler for good, she has to make a detour due to something that happens to her just as Kevin departed Taylor, something that should not have happened. By the time Yvette reaches Victoria with some backup support, Kevin believes Tyler was meant to be in Victoria, meaning that Yvette cannot break up with him until Tyler's purpose for being there has concluded. That purpose is finding the next righteous soul, who Kevin hopes to find in helping Tyler's new boss, a fishmonger named Gus. Gus, who also owns a commercial fishing boat - the one Kevin has seen in his visions - has long operated the same seafood stall in the public market, it unchanged from the time he opened it years ago. Gus believes the market owner, his landlord, is trying to push him out by raising his rent, wanting instead to have other more modern food sellers populate the market, Gus refusing to bow to the pressure to change the way he has run his stall for years despite dwindling sales. Kevin's personal life may be negatively affected in trying to find that next righteous soul. Back in Taylor, both Amy and Reese are keeping a secret apiece from the other, those secrets coming to light which have the unintentional consequence of hurting Nate.
