By November 1965, the Johnson administration had already agreed to support the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) loans, which delayed the devaluation of the pound sterling until 1967. The state dinner at the White House had been a long-planned evening and not tied to any dispute over Vietnam or the United Kingdom's finances.
When princess Margaret arrives to an USAF base to take a plane to travel to her dinner with Lyndon B Jhonson, the car used by USAF guards is clearly a Land Rover, that will be fine for a RAF unit, but not for an US based USAF unit.
The Queen is seen watching a cinema newsreel of Princess Margaret's US trip on TV. These were only shown in the cinema.
When Margaret arrives at the White House, both the Lance Corporal Marine (one chevron with crossed rifles) and the Corporal Marine (two chevrons with crossed rifles) are wearing Blood Stripes on their Dress Blue trousers. Only Corporals and above are allowed to wear the Blood Stripe.
When the Snowdens are staying in Arizona, the bedside telephone, instead of being a Western Electric model 500, looks as if it is a German Fe T Ap 611 desk telephone. Strangely, in the same scene the Queen is using an American model 500 telephone in Buckingham Palace when it should be a GPO 700 Series desk phone.
The White House location seems to be dressed as it appeared in 1800, rather than 1965. Pennsylvania Avenue and its traffic seems to have disappeared.
The Beechcraft Model 18 used as AF-1 had Spanish registration numbers (EC). This model Beechcraft aircraft WAS used as an AF-1 even though it never carried the President. However it was retired in 1957 and so would not have been used by the LBJ administration. Interestingly, the original plane still exists and is on display in Wichita where it was built.
