As a series premier i feel like it was a pretty good introduction, but still don't know how to feel about the whole story line though, but i'm interested to see where it'll go.

Intriguing premise, riveting story, and beautifully shot
nikhilisrael7 November 2019
The first episode was engrossing from start to finish. Jason Mamoa killed-it a tribal chief! His wild and intimidating personality was very effective. The fight sequences were adrenaline pumping. The star of the show though, is the very unique storyline and plot. Leaves you thinking, "Why didn't I think of that before." From watching just the first episode I can say, this show has a lot of potential!

The concept is the problem
TVorecom1 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The board is set. The pieces are moving. The Great War of the streaming services has begun. Apple TV+ has just been released today. One of its most anticipating series was See. And now, I've just seen it. So let me tell you about it.

First, See is ambitious. Highly ambitious. A post-apocalyptic world where a couple of million souls are left on Earth without the ability to see.

What I loved the most were the outside locations. Every single location from this series is wonderful. God, how fresh it feels to have a series taking place outside. Interior sets can be so boring. You can rarely go wrong with Nature.

Second, the story is quite odd. We've all see our fare share of TV series and movies. But a series where the main characters cannot see, taking place outside, that's quite the oddity. And I am still unsure if this actually works or not. Still, it gives the series a kind of religious aura, which would definitely not have been there without this idea. Whether this is a gimmick or a true storytelling feature.

VERDICT I give the pilot episode 5 out of 10. Good.

Spectacular.
cruise017 November 2019
4.5 out of 5 stars.

The opening episode is remarkable at its finest with a post apocalyptic story about a virus that wiped out the population on the planet. The remaining survivors are blind. Century later, a tribe accepts a stranger who is pregnant with twins. And the babies are able to see. Which draws the attention from an evil queen elsewhere which she sends out witch hunters to get those children while Jason Momoa's character is trying to protect.

The episode opens up a lot of story telling. Lot of characters. The concept with having people walk around blind as they are adapted and know there whereabouts.

The action battle sequence is entertaining. Seeing them crush a team of witch hunters with boulders. The episode is brutal and violent. The cast seems promising. The script and direction is sharp with capturing a beautiful landscape. The music score is good. The episode captures your attention and does not let go.

Great way to start a new show.

Pilot was sensational. Momoa does a fantastic job with his role already. There may be some far-fetched plot ideas, but overall, this episode was worth giving a try.

Surprisingly good

I expected alot less than what I got. A fresh take on a dystopian future with the removal of one of our senses to make everything from fighting to the most basic needs change into something new. It feels new and interesting in all the right ways. A solid start.

New and eye opening
dr-cornelius-119-7438062 November 2019
This is something I haven't seen before. The first episode was started with a 25 minutes long scene and it was filled with well thought conversations and props. With the idea that everyone is blind, they have to reimagine what sound really is and how it's used. This they do very well. The way they put everything together is also done some with extremely hard work.

Are They Blind Or Not?
aqibhakro4 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If they all are blind how they can be so perfect? In a scene they all were standing in a so called parliament and in a scene where queen kane speaks in the last no one was at standing at a wrong place. There is nothing "perfection" in this. But I admire the locations in this serial.

tangata te whenua o aotearoa
livrish22 November 2020
This is a great start I am half way through the series. Although the sighted aspect is a little too contrived. However I would like to hope that if this series proves popular that some contribution/recognition is made to the tangata te whenua o aotearoa wrt to some cultural aspects of the series

Ok intro
Lythas_8513 December 2020
The concept is good and the outdoor setting is great.. but the blindness thing not so much.. they go around fast like they could see everything.. even a bind person in her house moves slowly with careful steps and touching while here they run through the forest and you never see them trip or fall.. once or twice tou see some reaching and ear close ups to indicate that they're focusing on hearing but nahh it wasn't good enough.. it'd have been much better to make something simple like because of *insert reason here* everybody now is born with brown eyes and now twins were born with baby blues.. a much better plot

This show is so interesting, and the Story is riveting
moviesfilmsreviewsinc20 October 2022
Post-apocalyptic shows have been a mainstay in media for as long as I can remember. From zombies and viral outbreaks through to alien invasions and natural disasters, there appears no end to the imaginative ways we depict the human race ending. On paper, Apple+'s new venture into this well-trodden field is littered with problems from the get-go. In practice though, See does well to set up a story worth telling but with a lack of background and world-building, struggles to immerse you as much as it should. Following the outbreak of a deadly virus, we're told early on through expository text that the Earth's population has been reduced to under 2 million. All survivors are rendered blind and centuries later, the idea of vision exists only as a myth. It's here we begin our tale, at the edge of the Payan Kingdom with two women singing to an unborn child in the middle of a pregnancy. Asking for her husband, we find out he's in the process of preparing for battle. A battle that sees us introduced to Baba Voss, our main protagonist. Using ropes interlocked across the village, he heads out by following the sound of whips and readies the troops for battle. They venture deep into a forest where he realizes the group they're hunting aren't a simple scavenging party - it's a massive army. Baba Voss prepares them for battle, removing his helmet and blowing the horn; a sign that battle is upon them. Narration informs us that the army on the opposing side are that of The Witchfinders - intentionally setting out to find Baba Voss' wife under the assumption that she's a witch. Leading the others to safety, she steps out on the drawbridge and allows the others to follow her while the Witchfinders arrive in the village. Baba Voss senses this and offers to stay behind to hold off their advance. As the dogs begin barking, the Witchfinders follow their cries and prepare to cross the rope bridge However, Baba knocks one of the rungs from the bridge down, prompting Gerther to call out. As a stalemate is reached, the Witchfinder General sends out a messenger bird back to his base.

A whole new world!
deepakdst8 November 2019
The beginning is quite perfect with a lot much progress in a single episode and now we are all setup for this new world. Jason is really a born King rather it be Aquaman, GOT or See he is a true King. I liked the strategies used in the fight especially the Rock fall.

The dumbest, most embarrassing thing I've ever seen.
jeffbabies18 February 2024
This has got to be the dumbest, most embarrassing thing I've ever seen. Where do I begin? Watching these actors crawl around, pretending to be blind, while executing fight scenes... speaking in tongues, as if humanity forgot how to speak English, simply because their eyes don't work. It's insulting to the blind to suggest that if we all lost our sight we'd speak like savages. When they do speak "normally" they use terms like "sun grave" instead of sunset, or "the coming of the water" instead of "my water just broke"... I mean, I was rolling my eyes and laughing at this nonsense only thirty seconds into the first episode. I'm am so second-hand embarrassed for the people who wrote this drivel.

Really. Someone manages to throw a rope around someone else's neck with perfect precision (on the first attempt mind you) and no one accidentally stabs the wrong person in a violent attack? Can they smell each other? Is that how they know who to kill and who not to kill in a mob full of blind people?

Don't even get me started on blind characters who make perfectly symmetrical, color-blocked clothing, adorned with perfectly symmetrical embellishments THAT NO ONE CAN EVEN SEE. Or the guy who someone found two matching feathers of the exact same size, shape, color, and affixed them so perfectly to his hat with the plumage and pattern in the right direction. Why is it necessary? Why is the queen wearing impressive, embellished crowns THAT NO ONE CAN EVEN SEE? Why are they applying war paint to their faces THAT NO ONE CAN EVEN SEE? Who are you trying to intimidate? No one can see you!

I have no words for the queen's "prayer". I consider myself a pretty raunchy person when it comes to my sense of humor, but that display was gratuitous and nasty. It was there purely for shock factor and it was just as trite and embarrassing as the rest of this trainwreck.

For all those who say the concept is so original... it's not. The plot is straight ripped from a Portuguese novel called "Blindness", which was adapted into a film starring Julianne Moore in 2008. It depicts a rapidly spreading virus which turns people blind, and how society collapses as a result. Granted these showrunners have taken it much farther... but it feels like they watched "Blindess" and decided to run with the idea. And poorly at that. "Blindness" was itself poorly executed as far as I'm concerned, which doesn't say much for the way that authors handle the concept.

For a show about blind people, they sure do a lot of flourishing, campy nonsense and have Jason Momoa do "cool stuff" for the camera. I felt like I was watching a really bad acting class pretend to be blind for an hour, and they came up with some really cliché, borderline offensive content. To me, this contained a whole lot of cheesy ideas that were strung together by even cheesier writers. Honestly, it makes The Fast and the Furious look like stellar, Oscar-worthy material.

Ridiculous premise.
wadebabcocksoutheast4 November 2019
Bad enough to make yet another post apocalypic show about ignorant, superstitious tribes, but this time they are blind. Truly the most moronic show I have ever seen.

Poor Dialog, Inconsistent Plot Lines
drowsykitten12 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The dialog is horribly written, the acting is less than great, and you have to endure the "praying" which consists of oral/manual stimulation. The plot inconsistencies are numerous and wide sweeping, especially around the main premise of two sighted kids in a world of blind people. I mean come on, you get a tiny box of a few select books (most of which seem to be reading primers) and suddenly these kids know all about DNA and genetics? To the show's credit, they have done a good job constructing a blind society, with tattoos made from scarring so the raised bumps can be felt, or clothing and accessories designed to be tactile instead of visual, people crawl around a lot and there's a lot of touching going on. But for all of that effort, the dialog is where the show takes a huge dive, with people varying between normal sounding "modern" words and tribal guttural grunts and clicks. Sometimes they speak small simple words without prepositions, sometimes they speak in full detailed sentences with advanced vocabulary. It's massively inconsistent and difficult to listen to.
