1796?

This was about rebels in 1796 led by the swordswoman in white. Already sounds bad, but the movie itself is okay action wise. It has childish dubbing as if someone made a joke out of it. At one point military troops are banging on an old guy's door and he says, "Go away. Jeopardy's on." Didn't know the television show was that popular in the 1700s. Lines like that throughout. Yet, In Sword We Trust is actually worse dubbing wise. I'm almost certain the same company did both jobs. A lot of the voices were similar.

Low budget mainland wuxia

Warning: Spoilers
THE SWORDSWOMAN IN WHITE is a low budget wuxia fable from mainland China, perhaps inspired by the success of THE BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR and other popular Hong Kong action flicks of the era. The main character is a rebel who spends her time battling against corrupt government forces in 18th century China. Some family dynamics are added in to bolster the story while there's a lot of material about escape and evasion. It's one of those films where nothing much is memorable, from the unknown cast members to the lacklustre fight scenes which are at times quite pathetically portrayed (the bit where the title character deflects enemy arrows with her sword is laughable).
