To short and to boring

Warning: Spoilers
It's made up of two short stories 15 mins each. The shortness makes you lack any form of investment in the plots, characters, and stories because they're rushed by the time limit. There was also no point in making these OVAs because neither story had stakes and there are some other issues.

I'd say I hate the first one more but mostly for superficial reasons but it also has far less exposition. The ending of the first short has the female character turn out to be alive after they're and we're told she was killed by the main villain. He tells them she's alive as he is dying and he never thought of using her to get an edge in the fight because he is dumber than a pile of rocks.

She is also made to forget everything that happened and by doing this the story removed almost all the consequences from the story as Kurama didn't want her to be involved with him beforehand. It was so predictable as well as the fact this is set before the show so we know the main characters will be alive at the end. Also if you had not watched the show or read the manga the main characters have small amounts of characterization mostly a slight backdrop, if that.

I don't believe she's in the anime at all. She's from a manga chapter named two shots and it's what this story is based on. There's nothing wrong with changing the story to make it better. Her death would have added more to the story by adding more consequences to the story. Also for the fact I dislike her and as a character, she is two dim at best.

The other story starts with a huge info dump and is just boring because it's tensionless as they're fighting nobodies we know are fodder and all of the characters that are in this are alive at the very end of the story. This story is set right before that. I don't know why they adapted these stories.

A longer length for these OVAs would mean we would also get better characterization for the non-main characters which have almost none out of a need for filler.

The action was mostly good but the 90s show is just better in almost every way even with the modern animation. The characters also have a slightly more modern look, which does look worse somehow. Both stories are throwaways and you don't need to watch this.
