“The Family Favorites initiative is designed to entertain, inspire and educate families as they are spending more time together at home,” Discovery said in a statement Monday.

Exclusive: Marc Etkind has left the Science Channel after more than four years at the helm of the Discovery-owned network.
Discovery confirmed Etkind’s departure, which comes after he moved into the role of general manager in September 2015 from Destination America. He was based out of New York. Deadline understands that Scott Lewers, who was promoted to Evp Multiplatform Programming and Digital Media in 2018, will now have more oversight of the network, which is run by Nancy Daniels, chief brand officer, Discovery and Factual.
Etkind helped deliver record ratings for the Science Channel on the back of shows including Mysteries of the Abandoned, Unearthed and How the Universe Works. During his tenure, he also revived BattleBots in 2018 and commissioned Mythbusters spinoff MythBusters Jr.

Adam Savage has been away from the “MythBusters” world since the long-running Discovery channel series aired its final episode on March 6, 2016. And he didn’t expect to be coming back anytime soon (having steered clear of the Science Channel reboot).
But the ultimate science nerd told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour Thursday why exactly he agreed to come back for the upcoming spinoff series, “MythBusters Jr.,” and the answer is short and sweet: “The word junior.”
