"You don't know what you're up against..." Universal Pictures has released an official trailer for yet another direct-to-dvd sequel in the Tremors franchise (there's a Tremors franchise?) called Tremors: Shrieker Island. Believe it or not, this is the 7th (!!) film in the Tremors franchise, following Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell in 2018. The only reason we're posting this: because this one stars Napoleon Dynamite himself, Jared Hess, along with the original Tremors hunter himself, Michael Gross, who also appears in all six of the other Tremors movies. When a private island is infiltrated by Graboids, Ass Blasters, and Shriekers, two of the tropical island's nature preserve's top scientists recruit Burt Gummer, monster hunter extraordinaire, to eradicate the infestation. While there, Burt picks up a potential new protégé and encounters lost love. The cast includes Caroline Langrishe, Cassie Clare, Matthew Douglas, Sahajak Boonthanakit, David Asavanond, Jackie Cruz, and Richard Brake. Doesn't look that bad,...

Yesterday, we got the first look at the seventh film installment in the ongoing Tremors franchise, Tremors: Shrieker Island, and to celebrate the release of the trailer and details on the release of this latest sequel, Daily Dead was thrilled to have the opportunity to briefly catch up with series mainstay Michael Gross.
Gross, who has portrayed Burt Gummer in the Tremors films over the course of four decades now, gave us some insights into what we can expect from Shrieker Island, and also discussed the challenges of being an action hero in his 70s, how he will always be protective of Burt and his legacy in the Tremors series, and more.
Look for Tremors: Shrieker Island to debut on Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 20th, courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
Great to speak with you today, Michael. I'm so excited that you guys are back for another round of Tremors fun.

Tremors: Island Fury, or Tremors: Shrieker Island as it’s now titled, is set for a direct-to-video release this October and to whet our appetites, we’ve now got the first official trailer for the next entry in the beloved series, which teases more of the same crazy fun that we’ve come to expect from Tremors.
Shrieker Island is the seventh movie instalment in the franchise and is set on an island resort. This time around, though, the Graboid invasion will come as a result of a rich playboy transporting the creatures off the mainland in order to host a trophy hunt. Of course, that sounds like a pretty terrible idea and it isn’t long before things go wrong, leading to the legendary Burt Gummer being called in for help.
For more, here’s the official synopsis:

The original Tremors was one of the best B-movies of the early 1990s. After a brief but successful run in cinemas, the horror-comedy became a hit on home video (helped by truly iconic VHS cover art). Since that first film, we’ve had five sequels (and a TV show) of varying levels of quality, but the franchise is ready to burrow back into our hearts with Tremors 7, now officially titled Tremors: Shrieker Island.
The movie will, of course, see the return of the monstrous Graboids, giant subterranean worm-like creatures that detect vibrations on the surface and burst up from below to devour people. This time the conceit is that a number of Graboids have been captured by a bored billionaire desperate for some thrills. He’s transported the deadly monsters to an island resort with the intention of hunting them for sport. Something tells me that this show of hubris is going to backfire…...

Tremors: Island Fury remains on course for a direct-to-video release this October, having wrapped up its production months before the coronavirus pandemic hit. And to whet the fans’ appetites, actor Michael Gross has shared the first official image from the upcoming sequel on social media today.
The image offers a sneak peek at how his character, the eccentric Burt Gummer, will appear in the next instalment. He’s a far cry from the hardboiled Graboid-slayer last seen in 2018’s Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, now sporting a thick white beard and long hair, as though he’s been lost in the wilderness for the last two years.
Island Fury is, of course, the seventh movie instalment in the horror franchise, and as the title suggests, this one takes place on an island resort. This time, the Graboid invasion will be a self-inflicted one of sorts, as the premise involves...

The late 80s and all throughout the 90s provided introductions to some of cinema’s most beloved and long-running series. Major motion picture franchises like Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, and Home Alone have remained household names ever since, but they weren’t alone in their popularity at that time. There were plenty of other talked-about films that captivated audiences during the same era, but many of them have faded into relative obscurity since.
One such franchise, Tremors, is now six movies deep with a seventh on the way, yet despite its faithful cult following, it hasn’t been in the spotlight for decades. The first film in the story of Perfection, Nevada and its giant sand worm problem was an immense success when it released in early 1990 with high-profile stars like Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward. However, the second movie went straight-to-video, and though it was fairly well-received,...

A few months ago, the idea of a global shutdown was unthinkable. Movie releases postponed, major sporting events cancelled, pubs closed for business (particularly hard to take). You wouldn’t think then that an indie monster sequel with a home video budget would stand much chance against the onslaught. Well, you can think again.
Tremors: Island Fury, also known as Tremors 7, had been pencilled in for a Halloween release prior to the pandemic. Filming had wrapped, but with studios effectively shut down, the post-production process would appear to be on ice. According to star Michael Gross, however, that’s not the case.
Speaking to Saved by Nostalgia, the actor stated that as far as he’s aware, work on Tremors 7 is still ongoing. Take that corona. Here’s what he had to say:

Remember yesterday when we said how much Kevin Bacon still wants to make his own Tremors reboot? And that the Tremors direct-to-video sequel series was still in production? Well, apropos of the latter point, there’s been a big update now.
Filming on the prospective seventh film in the franchise, Tremors: Island Fury (also known as Tremors 7), has wrapped, ahead of a mooted release date somewhere in 2020. Bet you’re quaking with excitement, as it’s going to rock your home cinema. You’ll be trembling at the thought of it. Ok, I’m out of puns. Turns out there are only so many shaky jokes you can make (and I used that one in the previous article. Bummer).
One of the project’s principal stars, Michael Gross, took to Facebook to announce the news today, saying:

Did you know that the Tremors films have been going for almost thirty years now? It’s hard to imagine the franchise which pretty much launched Kevin Bacon’s career back in 1990 would still be entertaining moviegoers around the world. But it is, and we’re now getting word that to celebrate its third decade as a beloved cult monster series, actor Robert Jayne (Tremors 3 and Pearl Harbor) is working on an upcoming anniversary documentary. We’re not too sure what the doc will contain, but we’re pretty certain that fans will be excited to see it regardless.
“Working with NBC Universal on the “Tremors” Film franchise anniversary documentary, so amazing how something can sustain through time,” said Jayne.

It wasn’t that long ago that we spoke about how 3 From Hell star Richard Brake was the latest to board the cast of the upcoming Tremors 7 (titled Tremors: Island Fury). He’ll be appearing alongside veteran Tremors star Michael Gross (who’s played Burt Gummer since the original film), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Jackie Cruz (Orange Is The New Black) for the next installment in the monster series.
Now, it seems we’re getting our first glimpse of Brake as Bill after the actor posted a number of images (seen below) of himself in character to his Instagram account. One of the photos shows him looking the part and ready to take on the film’s token Graboid creatures, accompanied by the caption: “This is what we think of them Graboids.”
Of course, fans of Brake will no doubt be familiar with what a tremendous talent he is.

Is everyone excited about Tremors 7? The fact that the studio is still making sequels three decades after the original came out is a testament to its cult-like status. Furthermore, the fact that original cast member Michael Gross (Burt Gummer) – who recently blew our minds with his new look – is still on board also shows just how beloved Tremors is as a series.
And loved it is, not just by fans but by the cast themselves. Recently, the official Tremors Instagram page posted a behind-the-scenes video featuring Gross and co-stars Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Jackie Cruz (Orange Is The New Black).
In the video, Gross introduces his colleagues after telling us he’s been doing the films for thirty years. We knew that already, but it’s still staggering to hear it. They then give some information about where to find out more about the sequel via social media as...

It’s hard to imagine nearly thirty years have passed since the first Tremors came out, and while Kevin Bacon was the star of the original 1990 cult monster hit, it’s really Michael Gross who’s the face of the franchise. Let’s be honest, you can’t have a Tremors sequel without Burt Gummer.
Speaking of faces, in a recent post on Facebook, Gross showed the world his new look for Tremors 7 (which is currently titled Tremors: Island Fury). It’s quite a contrast to what fans are used to as well. Now sporting long, gray hair and a full Santa Clause beard, this image of Burt is a huge departure from the mustachioed, baseball cap-wearing destroyer of subterranean beasts.
We’re not quite sure why the change in appearance has occurred, but with the actor urging us to “buckle your seat belts,” we can only imagine what it all means.

While casual movie enthusiasts may not realize it, diehard horror fans know that the Tremors franchise is easily one of the prolific cinematic universes of the past few decades. The original 1990 film starring Kevin Bacon has since spawned five direct-to-video movies, four sequels, a prequel, several video games and a short-lived TV show. Now that Tremors 7 has been officially confirmed, moviegoers will be pleased to hear that there’ll be some big names fending off the Graboids this time around.
We already know that Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Jackie Cruz (Orange is the New Black) will be joining series frontman Michael Gross onscreen, but it’s also recently been revealed that Richard Brake of 3 From Hell fame will be rounding out the cast. January marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Tremors, a monster movie cult classic starring Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward. The film follows residents in the small town of Perfection who are terrorized by giant worm-like creatures underground called Graboids.
I’ve probably watched Tremors at least a dozen times late at night on TNT. Is it a low-budget knock-off of Jaws? Yes, but it’s still a lot of fun thanks to the chemistry between Bacon and Ward. The cool early ‘90s special effects aren’t bad, either.
Even Tremors II: Aftershocks is a decent sequel worth checking out. After the third movie, though, I lost interest. But apparently a lot of people haven’t because the original has spawned six sequels with number seven currently in the works.

It may have taken some time getting there, but Tremors is now on its way to being as sequel-ized as the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. After proving the franchise is in no way ready to take its final bow with the most recently released A Cold Day in Hell, the cast and crew are primed to unleash more mayhem with a seventh go-round.
So, with series stalwart Michael Gross being confirmed to return, I’m sure some of you are wondering if Jamie Kennedy will be joining him. Unfortunately, the short short answer is “no.” But if you’d like more detail, here’s what the man himself had to say on Twitter:
“Lot of people have been asking me, so I might as well spill it. I will Not be in the upcoming Tremors 7. I had a great time making the last two.

Sounds like it’ll be another wild and fun Tremors movie! The script for the film was written by Brian Brightly and Universal Home Entertainment regular Don Michael Paul will return to direct.
