I love Shenmue sure on the almighty Dreamcast system. The technology that system was able to achieve for 1999 was insane.
Now looking today on these ugh ports completely ruins that wow spanking ness. Okay the 4:3 is horrible don't be fooled here the Dreamcast can handle VGA widescreen support. So why are many claiming isn't possible again?
The gameplay has been updated but only to the "HD" menu systems screens. So you get catalogues now but they do keep the DC icons like the VMU. All the real life products are gone too just replaced with standard "Sega" fake nonsense products. Everything still feels like the Dreamcast version just that epicness is gone.
Now we dealing with Xbox port here not the superior Dreamcast version off Shenmue 2. The cut scenes are just as worse with many textures that are still missing from the superior DC version. Xbox may gave us real water effects that doesn't cover everything else. Eye for details that what the hundred developers put in.
Newcomers won't understand beyond "the sailors and forklife racing" part why I hate memes today. Sega had way more to offer here. We live out Ryo Hazuki day in day out life. We interactive with hundred NPCs all voiced out showed us future off real gaming.
Yu Suzuki has showed us a real treat for sure that was before the new millennium started. I cannot ignore the wait and teasing he showed throughout the developments. Sega could had implanted chapter 2 here yes the boat chapter with Chai as "new content" for us today.
This isn't the ultimate version no way. PC, Xbox One and PS4 versions are all troubled with errors. I won't give a free pass here. If you can't play the Dreamcast versions well yeah just have bite your tongues here.
