Diva by Maggie Levin

The stories about celebrities, are one of the most intriguing ones to explore in the books, television series, movies and so on. Some stories would be told in the decadent way, to see how the main characters would waist their time, without finding any answers in what they are looking for. Other stories would be told in the psychological way, to feel the pressure of the main characters for their popularity. As the main characters would take a choice, either accept their popularity and move forward, or refuse their popularity and accomplish dramatic consequences. Some of these stories can be fiction, to use as much realism as possible to surprise the audience. By also adding some symbolism, to often make references from poetries or also paintings, which would create unforgettable poetic shots for the Mise en scènes. Other stories can be based on real events, to see in every single details how the main characters rise and then fall with their career. By showing the most essential events in the stories, to surprise the audience with some unexpected happenings of the events. As the filmmaker Maggie Levin is moving forward with different projects, the one about the celebrities has particularly interested her to release a short movie. After having done some research for a long time of work, in 2019 came out Diva by Maggie Levin with Helen Highfield. The movie's plot: The celebrity Diva (Helen Highfield) has to be prepared for the world tour, but while the make up team is working for her look, Diva starts to feel pressure which is suffocating her. From the beginning to the end, the short movie would intrigue the audience, to see how the main character is going to handle with the pressure she has to face. But in the same way, is interesting to see how the supporting characters who are around the main one, would try to be helpful while they are hurrying up their job. The lightings were elaborated to create atmospheres for the story, to let the audience feel the psychological side of the main character. The camera captures the most essential as well as the most suspenseful shots, in every camera movements as well as in every angle shots. The monologues and the dialogues were elaborated to see how all the characters interact with each other, without ruining the narration's rhythm. The editing narrates the story with a rhythm by creating suspense, when something unexpected would happen with the main character. Diva is one of the best short movies, which has the potential to release a feature movie.
