The original idea was to make two medium-length films of between 40 and 50 minutes each for a standard duration of 80 or 90 minutes. Ríos Revueltos is 42 minutes. But the production problems that Sandra Munt had from the beginning prevented it being able to shoot more footage, finally remaining in a duration of only 28 minutes.
