The Director spent two weeks sleeping on the ground in a swag in the backyard of one of the filming locations to save money and so the cast and crew had beds to sleep in. His swag can be seen in the reflection of a window in the scene where the cop comes looking for Dan at heart s house.
The role of Auntie Julie had to be cast and written into the script from a role of a mother just two weeks before shooting commenced after the original actress was no longer available. The Auntie Julie role ended up being an integral part of the film.
All of Warraguls performance was filmed in just two days and in some scenes on completely different days as the other cast in the scenes.
After having to reschedule the shoot at the very last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, and the producers loosing money from the reschedule, the director convinced his mother and her friends to do the catering to save money. After the shoot she kindly asked her son to never ask such a favour again, saying it was one of the most stressful and hard working jobs she had ever done.
The condom guy was added in at the last minute and played by one of the boom operators after he showed an interest in acting during the shoot. It ended up being one of the most loved cameos in the film.
