Plot is very well written both sad and funny. Well-acted movie cinematography is brilliant and full of metaphorical images for those of you who enjoy artsy movies. Well worth watching.

Touching story with a lot of heart
maccas-5636710 January 2020
This film had a lot of heart and was an easy watch. It follows a man with Alzheimer's trying to track down and locate his first love, before he loses those memories along with everything else.
It made me laugh out loud in parts, and had a feel-good vibe about it, with well-rounded characters. It meandered at times, and while I occasionally found my interest waning, I felt invested enough with the characters to persist. The young Mafalda Carbonell (Blanca) had excellent chemistry with Oscar Martinez (as Emilio) and together they provided many of the laughs and touching moments.
There are numerous tear-jerker moments - particularly towards the end as things get tied together nicely. Really heartwarming and well acted. It's not groundbreaking, but I definitely recommend it to those after a decent foreign language film.

A sensitive , touching film about an attractive family and Alzheimer illness
ma-cortes25 August 2021
Simple as well as moving film about an enjoyable family , including comedy , drama , emotion , sensitivity , a nice group of actors who worked extremely well together , along with colorful cinematography by Núria Roldos , stirring musical score by Arnau Ballester and compellingly directed by Maria Ripoll . Heartfelt tale dealing with a retired , good-natured academic professor named Emilio (Oscar Martínez) attempts to find the love of his childhood , Margarita , after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Then Emilio along with his family (his daughter Inma Cuesta as Julia , Nacho López as husband Felipe and granddaughter Mafalda Carbonel , the latter in real life daughter of actor Pablo Carbonel) go to Pamplona , Navarra , to meet Margarita after a large number of years with no relation with her . Along the way , the good-tempered grandfather suffers a temporal memory loss , forgetting elemental happenings and past records.
Set in 2018, City of Valencia , it is a dramedy (drama and comedy) concerning sensitive relationships , good feeling , emotion and moving scenes , including awesome interpretations with outcast roles were pretty well developed . As the touching plot becomes extremely affecting , containing an agreeable message , remembering the true meaning of our existence and the things that actually matter in the troublesome life . Here stands out the charming relationship between the grandfather and his granddaughter, with full of sensibility and attractiveness . Nevertheless , the film results to be sometimes deeply sad , due to the progression of the illness that causes depression, oblivion and forgetfulness . The picture gives an interesting point of sight of the Alzheimer's hopeless sickness , dealing with its unsettling progresiveness and teaching how to deal the people is suffering it .

No shoot 'em up or car chases or violence just a small story about a bunch of people that I enjoyed knowing complementd by utterly beautiful piano music playing throughout the move. I don't speak much Spanish but I understood every word they said because it came from the heart. Thank you Netflix. You're batting 1.000 for the last month. You have nothing to worry about from all the Johnny come latelies littering the airwaves.

A Film You Can Watch With Your Family
sandie_online11 January 2020
Reviewers need to get their heads out of their a**es. Just because the star of the film is a professor doesn't mean we're looking for academic reviews. This was a film that spanned 3 generations and did it well. Each thought they knew it all but their interactions, just like life, taught them a thing or two ... about life. The relationship between the grandfather and granddaughter held the most charm. The parents lived in their own little world avoiding all that life threw at them. I could relate to the aging grandfather as well as the young girl. The film had a wonderful pace laced with comedy of all sorts. I highly recommend it. Good family comedy-drama.
This is a perfect movie

Touching Story

The film Vivir dos veces was released in 2019 and directed by Maria Ripoll. This film is in Spanish but Netflix has many options for any individual who would like to watch. The film follows a family through a journey of Alzheimer's. The main character Emilio is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. His daughter Julia is tasked with taking care of him and his granddaughter Blanca also helps out as well. The film follows the family though trying to fulfill a dream of Emilio's, seeing his childhood love one more time.
This film is a mix between a comedy and a drama. Even though the idea of this illness is extremely sad the film shows how the family comes to get her in Emilio's time of need. Overall I enjoyed the film. I felt as if I was invested early on. However, most people will find parts of the film to be extremely sad, due to the progression of the illness. In my opinion this film is a great representation of the illness. This film educated people about Alzheimer's.
The actors in the film worked really well together. All characters worked together to make the story come to live. The music and how the individuals acted represented Spain in a way that many people believe to be true. The film showed areas and the people co Spain in a very good way. Overall I would give this film a 8 out of 10. I enjoyed the film and I think many other individuals will enjoy it as well.
Tears Guaranteed...!!!

I've watched this movie four times now, it is great. Absolutely. I lost my father to Alzheimer's/dementia the acting in the movie is very well done. I do wish the English voice actor (For the main character) was an older voice and better voice acted - It is very important to get this right and I believe it is a miss. Since I watch it in Spanish (only once in English) I can tell you it is the best way to capture the essence and feeling of the movie ..... again truly fantastic.
it reaches your heart

A Spanish movie.
A drama with touches of comedy that make it intense and everyday.
The characters are not stereotyped as they are very human.
It tells the story of a man who, when diagnosed with Alzheimer's, decides to rehire the love of his life and his granddaughter accompanies him on the adventure.
It has sarcastic comic moments.
Very emotional moments.
Heartbreaking moments.
It deals with family situations in a spectacular way and shows everything very daily.
The third act is spectacular.
Also some moments will touch your heart.
Oh so nice

A nice story about Alzheimer

It was another film about Alzheimer, so it won't surprise you if what your are looking for is a nice story about love, family and old age.
Oscar Martinez is one of the best Argentinean actors, his role of a grumpy and clever old man, that is terrified about his future, is fantastic. Then, when the disease is at it's peak, he does a very good personification of a person with dementia. The girl, Mafalda Carbonell, also does an amazing job. The duo of grandpa and granddaughter steals the movie.
Finally, what I like to highlight is the scenery. It was a real bless to the eye, and it makes you want to travel to Spain right now.

What a gem - the acting, the setting in beautiful Valencia and perfect background music. But above all it is about the resilience that true love permits. If you have ever supported a loved one through tough times, this movie will go straight to your heart.

I really loved watching this film and it just gives you a good vibe after watching it, despite it being kinda sad but it has comedy moments. It also made me reflect a lot on Alzheimer's and on life. I greatly recommend it.

My family and I had a great time watching this movie together, with many laughs and some tears. The skills of the actors are very fine and professional. This movie represents very well issues from different life stages, and teaches the importance of family and dedicating time to work on fixing relationships. Someone recommended this movie to me, then after watching it I recommended it to someone else, and they were so grateful for it!
