"Identity Crisis"

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best episodes FBI has produced so far in what has been a spectacular freshman season: riveting, dramatic and emotional right from the get-go.

The sudden and violent killing of a judge and her daughter - a close friend of Sela Ward's Dana, who doesn't have a lot of scenes, but those she is in are powerful - has Maggie and OA trying to figure out why they were killed.

The investigation takes a turn when they run into a deep-cover FBI agent working in the suspects, someone who Maggie knew from her days at Quantico.

I had a feeling where this episode was headed two thirds of the way in, but you never know for sure. An interesting and considered look at the perils and insane stresses of working undercover. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it would be.

Warning: Spoilers
Firstly I would like to say that I absolutely love this show. I couldn't wait until the holiday break was over, so that the show could resume. That being said I was very disappointed with the last episode "Identity Crisis." A special agent (Gina Pratt) played by actress Milauna Jackson was undercover for an extended period of time. Also a friend of special agent (Maggie Bell) played by actress Missy Peregrym. While the writers and producers of this show have done an outstanding job. Episode 11 was not their best work. Too many times in society we paint a picture of double standards and gender discrimination as it pertains to high profile occupations. FBI never gave in to these stereotypes as the cast is filled with strong female characters. However in "Identity Crisis" the writers and producers totally dropped the ball. Special agent Pratt was an African American female in the FBI who had been undercover for over a year. Throughout the episode she was constantly being questioned by her colleagues on whether or not she had flipped. Despite the writers making it obvious that she had flipped I wanted to believe that special agent Pratt would prove everyone wrong. Well that didn't happen as she had developed "Stockholm Sydrome" from being undercover for so long which is a very real condition. But because this particular character was a female and African American. I was hoping that the writers would take this opportunity, to not only show that a female could handle this situation, but that an African American female could handle this situation. Unfortunately the writers and producers dropped the ball. It's bad enough that there's only one African American who's a part of the main cast (Ebonee Noel), and this particular episode that I'm complaining about, happens to be the only episode that her character actually spoke more than a paragraph. Anyway that's a different discussion for a different day. I just feel like this show had done a great job representing the many women out here leading the way in high profile positions. Well at least until now. I get it. It's supposed to be entertaining and ratings are important. But don't forget to make an attempt to inspire the masses.
