Lizzy Caplan rocks
jupetolvanen26 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After three first episodes, the second season seems to be developing to a masterpiece. The tension builds slowly in all narratives: super-natural, romance, murder thriller... Characters are relatable and you understand their bad and stupid deeds because they have their own traumas. Acting is great and Lizzy Caplan really uses her all skills to create a tragic character of Annie. This is a magnificent show. I am ready to forgive the major plot hole (just ignore the hole as did the construction workers...)

Classic King

Castle Rock, in itself, is a game of Stephen King Easter eggs. Great build-up episode with stress leading the way. Annie gets tangled into one of Kings crossover games, Gerald's Game to be exact . Classic King horror at it's finest.

Ties That Bind

Warning: Spoilers
This was the kind of episode that the show needed, it started to put some of the things into focus, but I just don't think Lizzy Caplan is right for the role. Or the character needs more dimension. It just isn't hooking me enough right now though.

I have a cool new fear now

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was some top notch Stephen King! This season, for me, has been really good so far and this episode killed it. The combination of mind and gore was really perfectly balanced, they only enhanced eachother's scariness. Love the stuff going on with the Marsten House. I love how he writes haunted houses, Rose Red anyone?? The part where Annie's tied up in the bed and breaks the glass to get free...I literally gagged at one point. Thanks to some really great Stephen King tv I now have this new awesome fear of glass in my mouth. Her hallucinations are terrifying and I think for the last bit of the episode my mouth was open in shock and horror. This episode was so good I finally verified my account so I could write this review. 10/10 excellent SK TV

"I killed that man, and then he came back."

Warning: Spoilers
Read enough Stephen King or watch enough of the films based on his works and you're bound to come across recurring themes. This episode calls to mind "Misery" and "Gerald's Game" as it relates to Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan) being restrained in bed by daughter Joy (Elsie Fisher), frightened by her mother's hallucinations. In hindsight, the story actually portends the actions of Annie Wilkes herself in "Misery", although it's a bit of a stretch to consider Lizzy Caplan maturing into Kathy Bates.

This episode opens with Abdi Howlwadaag (Barkhad Abdi) bringing his adoptive father, 'Pop' Merrill (Tim Robbins), to the hospital for treatment following the old man's stroke. That was noble of him, considering that Pop was about to set Ace Merrill's vicious dog on him to learn of Ace's disappearance. Now it's not unusual for ghosts to pop up in stories based on King's writings, but I think you have to draw the line somewhere. How is the ghost of Ace Merrill (Paul Sparks) able to drive a tow truck, much less get pulled over by the local cop? That's really stretching the 'suspend your disbelief' factor.

This installment ends with the 'Tall Man' appearing to Annie once again with an ominous declaration - "You know how this ends". Is he the husband Annie killed to initiate her constant move from town to town with her daughter? I'm betting it is, but we'll have to wait to find out.

B-movie blood episode, sort of
ekmohlin31 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nah... Being a huge King-fan, Im dissapointed so far.

It's all about Annie with big eyes, running around, heavy breathing, needing pills.

Breaking in to a house or medicine storage with big big eyes, heavy breathing, needing pills. Again?

25% of an episode, looking at her tied to a bed with big eyes, heavy breathing, needing pills.. AGAIN??? Eh...?

For me, this is so far a common not-so-scary B-movie type of show. Or a "find all the SK easter eggs" show.

Don't waste your time. Im fast forwarding as much as I can, hoping for some interesting things.
