Getting late in the season
mcc31516 November 2019
Episode 6 was good but with only four episodes left I feel like the season still hasn't kicked into gear. The first season was so riveting and this season has great actors but too slowly paced. The vampire/pod people whatever they are just are not menacing enough.

"You were gonna kill us both, weren't you?"

Warning: Spoilers
This episode reveals that Ace Merrill (Paul Sparks) isn't a ghost after all, but that he, and now brother Chris (Matthew Alan) have joined the afterlife as bodies inhabited by spirits of a cult dating back four hundred years. And they're collecting new members! Meanwhile, Nadia (Yusra Warsama) has thrown brother Abdi (Barkhad Abdi) out of their house for maintaining a secret involving Pop Merrill (Tim Robbins) for the past five years. But perhaps the icing on the cake has Rita Green (Sarah Gadon) arriving in Castle Rock to follow up on a mysterious phone call from her daughter Joy (Elsie Fisher), who all this time believed that her real mom was Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan). An emotional showdown between Rita and Annie is interrupted when Joy comes on the scene to incapacitate Rita, and from this point on, the story can go in any number of directions. With the zombie cult harvesting bodies and Joy's allegiance stretched to the breaking point, the writers of this series have shown they can craft a story as well as Stephen King himself.

The Mother

Warning: Spoilers
This didn't top last week's epic episode, but this was a good one as well. Seeing Rita's struggle was tough to watch, but I hated her dying in the end. It also felt like the show was going too political with an accidental gunshot. That wasn't really needed, they could have had Joy/Evangeline shoot her or something.

Castle Rock Keeps Bringing It
chixie-6402714 November 2019
The emotionally gut wrenching suspenseful interplay between Annie, Joy, and Rita (Sarah Gadon) make this episode a riveting follow-up to the masterful "The Laughing Place". Last week's episode was an origin story within an origin story, but as this episode ended, I was left contemplating more main character theories than when I first started watching this season. A show that makes one think is a good thing.

Of the series I regularly watch, this show is the best in my opinion. The writing, directing, cinematography and most of all the performances make for compelling viewing. Lizzy Caplan and Elsie Fisher are bringing their characters to life and giving Emmy worthy performances at the same time.

It felt like i was feeling their pain. When rita gunpointed annie, i was feeling bad for annie.. And when Rita got shot accidently, i was feeling bad for rita too.. Gosh my mind is unable to process this episode.

You are better than this JJ

Warning: Spoilers
Everything was going just fine, until the final scene (spoiler alert)

Really JJ? The best you can come up with is the ole "surprise the gunman with a fistful of dirt into the eyes" and as if that wasn't enough, the gun magically goes off when it's dropped out of the hand? Poor poor uncreative writing, not what I would expect from such high caliber team
