Coming together nicely
tuzzolojoe-1431327 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The story for this season is coming together beautifully as of this episode. A lot of action and some big break throughs during "Dirty". Ace comes to the realization that Joy is the vessel for Amity as opposed to Annie. It looks like Annie is overcoming her inner demons when she hears and sees her dead mother frequently throughout this episode and when she is becoming influenced to kill Joy, she overcomes it. Chris comes to kill Nadia but she knocks him out, takes him to the hospital where we learn that the drug Haldol can beat whatever had taken over the bodies in Castle Rock. All in all, very good episode. One of the better this season. Although, very short. Only 36 minutes. That's why I didnt give it a 10.

AAAAARGHH!!

This so far fantastic second season has such a grip on me that I wait so eagerly for this next episode for what seems like half a century and then I get this half episode that lasts only 35 minutes!

But ok, it was a good 35 minutes. The increasingly dark ingredients are starting to blend well and we get a nice little twist... Feels like there's very little hope for Castle Rock now. Lizzy Caplan keeps amazing me for her complete and wonderful portrayal of Annie Wilkes. She MUST get a price for this! Her expressions and physical behavior, the way she plays that unstoppable bravery that is born out of nothing but pure terror... You can almost touch her dispair. Watch her go Rambo!

I would never mess with a desperate woman like this Annie, she's like a small but wild animal that will shred you to pieces if you push her in a corner. Most of all: I wouldn't ever mess with her "offspring"...

"What if the daughter is the vessel?"

Warning: Spoilers
Events are leading up to a dramatic climax in this eighth episode of the 'Castle Rock' series. When Chris Merrill (Matthew Alan) is sent to capture Nadia (Yusra Warsama) by the ancient cult, she's able to fight him off and gain an upper hand by the use of a drug called halidol, which then causes him to hover between his real self and his vessel self. It's not many characters you get to see die twice in a given series, but it happens here when Chris takes a bullet that also put an end to cop Billy's (Chad Knorr) assault on Nadia. You have to wonder since he was brought back to life once before, couldn't this merry-go-round keep on going.

Ace Merrill (Paul Sparks) meanwhile determines that Annie (Lizzy Caplan) is not the vessel he's long hoped for to bring back the spirit of cult leader Amity. Instead it's Joy (Elsie Fisher), who now finds herself on the run with her sister mom, attempting to make their getaway as the citizens of Castle Rock are mass hypnotized under the influence of a mesmerizing humming noise. As this installment ends, Annie is captured by one of Ace's thugs, while Joy joins the massive parade throng, but only as a means to eventually escape the evil influence of Castle Rock.

Dirty

Warning: Spoilers
The Annie and Joy dynamic is one of the best things on television, but there is not much else to love about this show right now.

Castle Rock has had its highs and lows in both seasons, but I am not sure I expect a good wrap-up to this year.
