“Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Barbie” and “The Holdovers” were among the film winners at the 39th annual Casting Society Artios Awards.
The ceremony honors top casting in the year’s films, TV and theater. The celebrations were in person for the first time in three years, taking place in Los Angeles and New York City with hosts Niecy Nash-Betts and comedian Alex Edelman dividing up emcee duties between the cities. There was also a ceremony for casting directors in London.
With the newly added Academy Award for casting, the night certainly was a celebration. Starting in 2026, there will be a prize for best achievement in casting, the culmination of a campaign for recognition that has taken decades.

The Peacock reality competition series, hosted by Alan Cumming, has been a huge hit for the streaming service and fans have been loving this season.
In the show, contestants worked together on missions to fill their prize pot with up to $250,000. Several “Traitors” were selected by Alan at the start of the game, and the rest of the contestants are called the “Faithful.”
The Faithful must try to identify who among them is a Traitor, banishing one member in each episode after a roundtable discussion. At the same time, the Traitors murder a Faithful each night, while also working to keep their identities secret. In the end, if the Faithful banish all the Traitors, they’ll split the prize among them all, but if a Traitor makes it to the end, the money is all theirs.

Offset and Quavo reunited for a surprise performance to honor their late groupmate, Takeoff, who was fatally shot on Nov. 1 in Houston, Texas, with a touching tribute during this year’s BET Awards.
The duo performed together for the first time since they disbanded their hip-hop trio, Migos, after releasing their fourth and final studio album Culture III in 2021. When the awards show returned from a commercial break, a curtain raised on a darkened stage with two shadowed figures emerging: Quavo and Offset, standing before an image of the Space Shuttle. As a recording of Takeoff’s verse on the song “Hotel Lobby” began, the space shuttle took off and the pair launched into the group’s biggest hit, “Bad & Boujee.”

While we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get the U.S. releases for Justine Triet’s Palme d’Or-winning Anatomy of a Fall and Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s About Dry Grasses, for which Merve Dizdar won Best Actress at Cannes, both films will be arriving in France this summer. Ahead of the former’s release in August and the latter’s release in July, the first full trailers for both have arrived, albeit without English subtitles.
In his review of Anatomy of a Fall, David Katz said, “The ensuing days after a romantic breakup, even if it isn’t a cataclysmic one, are an uncanny time. Perhaps once the spell of verbal conflict and sparring’s ceased, suddenly your sole companion for the most intimate thoughts is yourself once again, but it’s an opportune moment for contemplation: how did it really go wrong? Mariah Carey is famous for topping the charts. In fact, she holds the record for the most number-one hits by a solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100 (19), and she became the first artist ever to hit number-one in four different decades. But of course no one can send every song they’ve recorded to the top of the charts. A number of Carey’s greatest hits didn’t reach the summit, but they belong in any discussion of her storied career. Scroll down for our countdown of her best non-chart-toppers.
Early in her career it was hard to find Carey singles anywhere but number-one. The first four from her very first album reached that position. The 1990s continued at that same pace: a whopping 14 of her chart leaders were released in that decade. The 2000s were less auspicious for her: she had career and tabloid trouble when her movie “Glitter” and its accompanying soundtrack underperformed.

With Series Mania 2023 coming to a close, the event’s founder and general director Laurence Herszberg announced the winners of the Series Mania Festival today.
”We would first like to thank the public and the professionals who attended this edition, which brought together more than 85,000 participants for the Festival and 3,800 participants from 64 countries for the Forum. We are delighted to announce our prize list and figures that have far exceeded our expectations,” said Herszberg.
With the rise of streaming across the world, Series Mania has become one of the most attractive events in the global TV calendar. It’s largely looked at as a place where writers, distributors and producers can liase with each other in a less formal setting than compared to a TV sales market. It includes not just the festival, the Forum, key conferences, keynotes, and pitching sessions.
This year the festival screened 54 unreleased series, with 32 world premieres and 10 international premieres.

The biggest night in Hollywood is almost here. The Oscars are looming, as the Academy prepares to dish out little gold statues to the greatest movies of the year – and it’s set to be a particularly tight race. In 2023, the multiversal madness of Everything Everywhere All At Once is going up against the emotional weight and dry wit of The Banshees Of Inisherin. Meanwhile, after its multiple BAFTA wins, All Quiet On The Western Front might sneak some major victories, it could be Steven Spielberg_ in the Best Picture stakes. It’s going to be a fascinating race, and it’s all to play for ahead of the ceremony on 13 March.
As we – and the biggest stars and filmmakers – prepare for the most star-studded evening in the film biz, take a look over the latest set of nominees and travel through decades of Oscars history – and check back for...

There weren’t a lot of surprises at the 95th Academy Awards, yet it still felt fresh and lively for a ceremony with few real upsets that stuck almost entirely to conventional wisdom. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” enjoying an ostensible sweep was a shock to precisely no one, while “All Quiet on the Western Front” taking four trophies (three of them below the line) was equally predictable. No matter. There was still plenty of suspense and numerous touching, heartfelt, powerful acceptance speeches. I was a little worried there for Best Actor winner Brendan Fraser (for “The Whale”) that he could suffer an onstage meltdown, so much was the guy hyperventilating.
If you were a fan of the Academy Awards, you had to find a lot to love about the show and the results. For one thing: nobody got slapped this time. Heck, no one even got so much as pinched.

There was confusion at the Baftas on Sunday night (19 February) as Carey Mulligan was incorrectly named winner of the Best Supporting Actress award.
Last year’s Best Supporting Actor winner, Coda star Troy Kotsur, presented the award using sign language.
While Kotsur was signing that Banshees of Inisherin actor Kerry Condon had won, the sign language interpreter mistakenly said the name Carey Mulligan.
Mulligan had been nominated for MeToo movie She Said.
“This is a bad moment,” the interpreter told the star-studded crowd, as gasps sounded around the auditorium in London’s Royal Festival Hall.
When Condon was finally named, she came to the stage and delivered an acceptance speech to rapturous applause.
“A defibrillator needed for Carey Mulligan,” host Richard E Grant joked, after Condon finished speaking.
The whole incident was edited out of the BBC One broadcast.

The 75th annual Directors Guild Awards have been handed out at the Beverly Hilton, and the night’s big award brought a bit of a surprise as Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert, directors of Everything Everywhere All at Once, beat out Steven Spielberg for the top prize.
The DGA is a strong predictor of Oscar success historically, missing the eventual Best Director winner only eight times in 74 years. Last year, the guild awarded Jane Campion its top film prize for The Power of the Dog, which marked a big step on her path to winning Best Director at the Oscars.

Scottish filmmakers Will Anderson and Ainslie Henderson clinched the Powell And Pressburger Award for best film, the new main competition award at the Edinburgh Film Festival, with their debut feature A Cat Called Dom.
Anderson and Henderson both star in and co-direct the indie flick, which follows how Anderson deals with the grief of his mother’s cancer. In the film, the duo work on their animations and face the frustrations of trying to make this documentary. Whilst alone, Will turns to Dom, the animated cat that lives on his laptop screen.
The jury, comprised of president Gaylene Gould, producer Rosie Crerar, and author Sarah Winman, cited the “special collaboration” between the legendary British filmmakers Powell and Pressburger which they said “was grounded in deeply human stories and the belief that life can be magic” when handing the award to A Cat Called Dom.
