Two guys having an adventure; could have been more
ArchFrenemy5 March 2019
You know, I wanna like this show, and to an extent, it's kind of fun...but, in order to (I guess) make what they think are more interesting TV visuals, the hosts will take a theory---and then run with it in a direction I (at least) doubt will yield the best investigative results. Example: If you are trying to ascertain the truth behind the authenticity of an interesting runestone and its unusual, unexpected location in the New World, why then "try to create runes in stone" yourselves? Why not more closely investigate the life and circumstances of the Scandi man who a century or more ago unearthed the thing and claimed it was real? Would that have bored people to death? (Not me: I'd have been fascinated to hear more about him!) And why "prove you can recreate Viking tools" in every episode when, to me, we could spend more time in labs looking at carbon dating, or in museums/libraries and the like studying with scholars...? Too boring? Not for me. That's the show I WANT to see.

Very good and well done

Something a previous poster mentioned was something to the effect that nothing new was learned from this show. Wow... what an intellectual snob. I guess the whole world should know about this topic right? Yes, it is somewhat of a refresher course for those of us who do know a lot about the topic, but fact is, kids are born every day sparky. They did not pop out of their mother's womb knowing about Vikings and their Journeys to North America. While it is true that not a whole lot was learned (for those of us in the know), there were some very interesting topics that were covered in more detail and presented more facts than "most" people knew already. I have looked forward to every episode and enjoyed every one of them.

Another terrible show following the Ancient Aliens formula

Being a native resident of Minnesota I remember, as a kid, stories of Vikings exploring the state before Christopher Columbus "sailed the ocean blue in 1492". What Minnesotan hasn't heard of the Kensington Rune Stone or Hjemkomst Viking ship. So when this show was set to air on the Science Channel I was very excited..needless to say it didn't last very long. Watching the show is cringeworthy at best. Everything the two "archeologists" find is like watching Finding Bigfoot. It may or may not be Vikings, but for the hosts it's more than likely Vikings. Watching the episode where they came to Minnesota was insulting. They didn't actually find anything and spent an hour going over information that's already been discussed and is well known. If you like shows like Finding Bigfoot, The Curse of Oak Island, or Ancient Aliens then this show is for you. If you like substance and actual detective work, don't waste your time. You won't find it here

America's lost TV show

Warning: Spoilers
Two stars for some places they visit. But they wander aimlessly and waste the viewers time. At one point they go to an island to look at a rock and seem surprised it is high tide. So they just leave. Tide charts are easy to find. Currently shooting a seal for dinner. Way too long a tangent. Did Vikings shoot seals. Now lamely preparing the meat while making guesses about history. Off my list.

So bad

As a Canadian with Scandinavian blood. This episode when they visit Newfoundland and then enter the freezer to see if they are really viking is ridiculous ... to see if the Vikings could handle -13! Is embarrassing. My kid wears shorts in -13 for god sakes.

We're from Saskatchewan... where the true Vikings ended up I guess. The name too is misleading!!! Try -40 with the cold wind whipping off the ocean? Those dudes would lose their toes because they aren't used to it! They're used to basking in the Florida sun!

Americas!? How about North America?? It's not all about America... also try pronouncing Newfoundland again.
