Having watched Damian in various roles this series concentrates on spys and spycraft. This is a great series and Damian narrates this series well. Binged watched this on history. Hope for a season 2. If you like shows like homeland, the Americans and false flag this is up your street
Excellent series, but ...

First hand accounts of spy history

Wow!
I thought this was just going to be another dramatized show with actors, but while it is that, they also get first hand interviews with key people who actually were involved with the remarkable stories of these intelligence operations.
Amazing stuff - really brings history to life.

We're already big fans of Damian Lewis, not only for 'Band of Brothers' but also 'Homeland' and 'The Baker' (also known as 'An Assassin in Love').
This is an excellent series, taking a provocative spy story and researching and re-enacting it superbly to explain as much of the circumstances that can be shared. Unfortunately, some of the information is still classified; but they provide as much of an account as possible. While I am familiar with many of the stories already, I still learn new facts about them; and Lewis presents them wonderfully.
Overall, a highly recommended documentary series that proves the truth can be much more interesting and exciting than fiction!

Was blown away by the true stories, real footage, real interviews with some of the actual players. The portrayals weren't cheesy and simply illustrated what would have happened in a helpful way. The host, Damian Lewis, did a great job of narrating the episode, and didn't try to inject himself into the action which can be so off-putting. Really enjoyed this season. My WIFE was spell-bound and she doesn't even like spy stories!!!!!
great series, hopefully a second season!

Very interesting real cases, and Damian is doing a very nice job as moderator. Its not focusing on one timeframe like the Cold War, but enters different espionage cases. Thats actually some recipe to attract many viewers and its so deserved. Give it a try, its more than worth it.
Blatant Facts misused, wrong flags Cmon

Even in E1S1 they are showing 1970s Soviet embassy with russian flag, the russian flag did come in to use until much later. The flag was red, do the producers know any of this. They talk about tensions with Reagan in 1983- no explanation why. In Poland the Solidarity was shaking the boots off the communists and Reagan was supporting them with nuclear threat against soviet union if they invaded Poland - none of the them on the show mention it.
