Contrary to what kris-gray believes (writer of the "I miss Miranda" review), the London police department would have had female detective sergeants in 1967. In 1962, the police department had 525 female officers; among them were 51 Sergeants, of which 11 were in the Criminal Investigation Department. It stands to reason there were female detective sergeants five years later. (Information from "Met Police Female Police Officers History.")
