A wonderful, hearty and amusing french comedy with excellent actors and actresses. Sometimes it reminds you a little bit of Woody Allen, but it is not that intellectual after all. If you want to have real fun at the movies, go see this film!

Great Atmosphere!

Some people may find this movie boring, but if you have found an entrance into this film you'll love it! Sure, it's not for the "normal" movie goer who wants to have fun. In the contrary: You will be almost depressed after this one. If you are the melancholic type than this is a must see for you! One can also say: This is a song of Portishead as a movie.
Requiem for a Romantic Woman

Great!

A long time we waited for a good historical movie from Germany. Here it is finally. Costumes, Art Direction and Cinematography are excellent. But the acting performance of the newcomer Janina Sachau is even more brilliant. This woman has a future. This film is a must for romantic movie fans.

Solid Work
24 November 1998
A quite good film version of the novel, though at the beginning a little bit lengthy. Fortunately there are a few funny scenes from time to time. This movie is surely not for the main stream audience - but for fans of Italian (or Portuguese) cinema, a must-see also for Mastroianni-fans.
Saving Private Ryan

A complete failure of Spielberg!
9 October 1998
This movie is a technically perfect one. But that's all! The story is unbelievable. Only pictures and sound show the cruelness of war. The actors and the script fail to convince you of the pointlessness of it. Sorry, but this movie is a complete failure! What the hell have Spielberg done here???
Autumn Tale

A great example of French cinema
8 October 1998
The concluding work of the season cycle is a great example of French romantic comedy, but it does not act cursory. It is even interesting for the main stream movie goer although the movie takes a little time at the beginning to get into the plot.

A spiritual movie for fans of Indian cinema
6 October 1998
An extremely spiritual movie living mainly from its Indian music which emanates an utmostly quiet serenity. Although the story has some lengths now and then the true fan of Indian cinema will enjoy this movie. Other movie goers will most likely have problems with this film.

Greatly filmed!

The first work of Tom Tykwer shows several qualities that have been brought to perfection in "Lola rennt" ("Run Lola Run"). There are especially the great camera work and the intelligent editing. Unfortunately the script is somewhat protracted now and then.
