Surprise
4 August 2002
What a surprise to me. I go to the cinema in the hope of see Signs, but I was too late. So, I buy a ticket to see Québec-Montréal and... wow, a pretty interesting film. Made a low budget, like others canadian movies, we focus here on the characters and their relations between each others. It's funny, strange, but the last five minutes are, for me, a sad end. Make your own judgement.

Jolie?
11 December 2000
Gone in 60 seconds is the perfect Hollywood movie. Cars, chase, heroes larger than life and iconoclast villains. But, I don't know why Angelina Jolie is in this movie? For who? His character do absolutely nothing. She's a wast of time... and she was credited in second place. And don't forgot this, the end is very, very, very ridiculous.

Another stupid love story
8 June 2000
M:I-2 is an average action movie with some great action sequence. The subject is not bad but the screenplay is bad with a non sense and stupid love story. Tom Cruise is still great but not at his best. The end is like a movie like Stepmom or You've Got Mail. Too previsible at some moments, especially the sequences with the mask. Anthony Hopkins have a too little part in the movie and it's also ordinary.

Go see it, but...

I can't believe Travolta make that
14 May 2000
Since Pulp Fiction, John Travolta always do great movies. But the last one is a very great mistake. Battlefield Earth is based on the book by L. Ron Hubbard. Terl (John Travolta) lead the Psychlos versus a young man named Johnny. In the book, the story between this two characters is great, it's a challenge. But in the movie, it's not that. It's not a fight between them. The whole film is not like the book, it's different on the bad side. It's not the same ending.

On the side of the direction, it's a bad move to choose Roger Christian. He made nothing to be to real contender to direct a great sci-fi epic like that. Bad directing and also bad writing. And the editing is very ordinary. It's a 117 minutes movies with a story of 180 minutes. They cut 30 minutes (original length might be 145 minutes) for who??? The start is to fast and nobody know the story of Johnny and his group. Finally the acting is very below average. Travolta can do better and we all know that. The light is Barry Pepper who is good in is character. The rest of cast is not very impressive, because of directing.

It's impossible, Travolta don't do this thing.

An high quality picture
5 May 2000
This movie is very excellent on the visual side. The images are great and the directing is awesome. In acting, I was impressed by Joaquin Phoenix in the role of the evil Commodus. He is really evil. Russell Crowe as the physic to prove his talent. And it's very great to see the old Richard Harris in a comeback.

A great epic!!!

Great adventure
12 February 2000
I see The Beach last night and I love it. It's a very special movie, with great images and actors performances. This film is unique by his photography and direction. Leonardo DiCaprio is not only a sexy actor for the girls, but he is a very actor and it's fun to see him play a character like that.

Go see this movie now...

Very stupid
18 January 2000
A very stupid and insignificant love story who distract the viewers of the real story, the stolen painting. It's like Thomas Crown when he made his robbery. Rene Russo is too old to be denuded and Pierce Brosnan is James Bond, not Thomas Crown. I don't see the sense of a love story in a kind of movie like this. It's a waste of time.

Pure Fincher, pure madness, pure ending!!!
9 December 1999
I don't believe this movie. How great he is. How spectacular he is. How mysterious he is. The movie is made by David Fincher, one of the great director of the decade. He made is mark in the cinema with is famous twist-in-the-end. He have the touch, the touch of how to make a terrific. And the performances of Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter are awesome. It's a completely psycho movie. But it's a movie to see.

The real Burton
21 November 1999
Tim Burton is back with a great movie. It's exciting and terrific. All of the Burton's directing are specials and Sleepy Hollow don't do exception to the rule. It's beautiful and mysterious... Johnny Depp is great in the role of Ichabod Crane. Maybe the best performance of Johnny Depp since a long, long time. The movie combined horror, romance, comedy and action. I think it's one of the best movie of the year, just for the directing, it's wonderful. I will return watch it!!!! Go for it!

Knowing history
14 November 1999
First of all, the story of Joan of Arc is biographical movie. A story not create by some writers of Hollywood. The story is about a young girl who lead an army to liberate his country, the France. The word France is maybe the problem for someone. For someone who don't care of things not BORN IN THE USA!!! For someone who want to see the movie for an happy end, go home now! I saw a great historical movie. Probably, Milla Jovovich is not the right actress to do the role, but it's not the case. In a much larger vision of things, we have to see the sens of directing. It's an epic movie for people loving history.

A Blair Witch Analyze
30 August 1999
The problem with The Blair Witch Project is in relation with the story. Some things are unknown. Who found the footage of the young students? The police? Their parents? The firemen? The witch??? Who stole Josh??? This movie leaves us to indecision, to mystery with no answers. Maybe I'm a bad movie viewer.

But, the film have his originality. Entirely shot with an handycam, it's good, like a real documentary with friends. This movie give us some ideas to do an own sequel: The Blair Witch Project 2: The Story of the People who found the footage. Coming to your cinema near you soon...

I can't vote for this movie

Think big, sti!!!!!!!!
13 July 1999
Elvis Gratton: Miracle à Memphis is one of the greatest comedies of the year in Canada. It's a superb movie with some hard messages for the canadian goverment. Pierre Falardeau hit hard and he don't miss the target with this sequel to the cult movie Elvis Gratton. Julien Poulin is excellent. We see an original end with humour.

The movie of the year, of a life
20 May 1999
To be honest with The Phantom Menace, don't compare to the Star Wars trilogy. It's another thing. Much more special effects, a different style. Maybe a little bit technologic for a story 30 years before another.

Good things: The cast is excellent and the performances are great. Some surprises are on. The final battle with the music Duel of the Fates. The F/X are great but a little too much. Podrace!!!

Bad things: Maybe too much F/X. The character of Darth Maul is not develop as much as Darth Vader was. Jar-Jar Binks is a little bit annoying.

It's a movie to see and to see and to see.

The movie of the year and the movie of a lifetime. Can't wait for Episode II.

Go for it!!!
22 March 1999
Completely hilarious. Billy Crystal is very funny in the role of Ben Sobel. And Robert De Niro is Robert De Niro. One of the best actors of the cinema history. He is so hilarious when he cries... a little baby. I laugh all the time in the cinema and I don't do it since a long time... Joe Viterelli is also good in his role. He have the look of the mobster.

In conclusion, if you want to see a good comedy and if you want to laugh, go for it. I you want to cry, stay at home to see another movie.

Urban Legend (1998)
A worst Scream Copy
11 March 1999
Better than I Know What You Did Last Summer series... Better than Disturbing Behavior... Fewer than Scream 2... Very fewer than Scream... Fewer than Halloween: H20

Now, it's the comparison to do. Scream make photocopier but with a bad copy. You know, a copy of a copy it's not the original. Try to put the lowest budget and try to gross the best box-office result, it's the secret for the producers.

The whole movie is a copy: Did you remember Copycat? In this movie, the killer have his inspirations of the great murders. Now, the killer has his inspirations of Urban Legend... A different variation, but a copy.

The movie also does a carbon copy of I Know What You Did Last Summer. An unkillable killer who is killed two times strikes back.

Also, we see a copy of Scream 2. The victims are young college students who loved Internet, all cool and sex.

The one and only thrill is: Who's the killer?

But, I appreciate the presences of the beautiful Alicia Witt and Rebecca Gayheart. That's good to see them.

So, see it if you want to see another version of Scream.

So Cruel
7 March 1999
What a good movie!!! It's entertaining to see a duel of young actors. The bet is very cruel and we see what love is for. Ryan Phillippe is excellent in his role and Sarah Michelle Gellar is so "bytch"... in his performance. The idea of transposing the story in our time is great and young people can identify himself with the characters.

You know, it's not a future Oscar contender but a great MTV Awards contender. And, do you remember Joshua Jackson from the Mighty Ducks... what a strange character he is...

So, go see this movie and comment on it!!!

Good message!
3 March 1999
I loved this movie. Kevin Costner finally return to his roots and he deserves a good review. Despite an easy story, the characters are true and splendid. The performance of Paul Newman in the role of the father is so fine. But, the end is too special and understanding. Is it no love for the man with pain? So, this movie is in the 0,01% of american movie, a not happy end movie. I wish I could see a second good performance for Costner...

Good but...
28 February 1999
I finally saw the first IMAX drama: The Wings of Courage. With beautiful images, it's probably great in IMAX, but, I don't see it in IMAX. I rent it on video. So, I lose all the charm of the movie but I see it... The 40 minutes runtime will be most long if the movie was released in real cinema theater. But, it's very interesting to watch and enjoy.

For the movie poster, we see the face of Val Kilmer, but he is about 5 minutes in the movie. I think they helping marketing... but not the sense of the movie.

In the line of Scream, but...
22 February 1999
This movie was in the line of Scream, but not a great line. With a script thick as a tooth-pick, I don't see sense in this very ordinary movie. It's because you try to be Scream that you will find the same success. It's the same horror movie genre with teenagers who are searching love but find horror. Katia Holmes was the only interest for me in this flick.

3 out of 10 for Katia.

Same joke
22 February 1999
It's a not comic comedy. When the players trying confuse their opponents, we see a joke, but we see the same joke all the time. "I sleep with your sister!!!". So, I think the jokes were boring and stupid. Also, the actors performances are bad enough for them to win some Razzies Awards. I think Matt Stone is the only one who has a little potential then became 1/5 of Jim Carrey. So, I believe that the South Park creators have to work on South Park and only South Park for a long time to have a real success.

3 out of 10 and I'm so generous.

Oh, Will!!!
22 February 1999
One thing: Will Smith rules!!!! He prove that he can support a movie on his shoulders. Despite the presence of Gene Hackman, who is not seen in the first hour, Smith takes the lead of the movie with a great sense of humor. Tony Scott directs the film with talent and the camera effects are very interesting. Also, the computer science is a big supporting actor and it's important. Finally, Gene Hackman is good as always. A must, must see.

Good!
22 February 1999
It's a good movie, not the best in the genre but it was good enough to expense 6,50$. But, the performance of John Travolta is not an Oscar performance. Is good, but not great. Robert Duvall is great and intimidating. The screenplay is good and actors who portrayed the parents of the victims are very strong in their performance. It's a must see for the story, the actors and for John "The Man" Travolta.

The best of all
20 December 1998
Star Wars is a cult movie. Star Wars is one of the rare movies you could see three times in a day, and the next day, and the day after. Star Wars is the masterpiece of the 20th Century. The appointment of all people, from young to old, from movie fan to not movie fan. Star Wars is the reference of all sci-fi movies. Star Wars is for you.

A must see, and see and see and see.

The Boys are back
12 December 1998
What a great comedy. A sequel better than the first. Two hours of humour, hockey, romance and fun. Forget all the holiday tentative of great smash, the Boys are in Quebec to rules the box-office.

The team is back without some elements, Roger (Michel Barrette) is out and Labine is dead. Martin Petit take the place of Labine in the role of Sylvain and he is funny. The head seductor, Bob, is the creator of the Quebecoise Toupie in some hot sequences with the wife of the french coach, Laurent. Stan is in love and Leopold too. Julien is the song leader and Ti-Guy the pain boy of the group.

Let's go the Boys
