In depth portrayal of being human. Excellent !!
3 March 1999
The 3 characters are played so well throughout the movie. Romane Bohringer did such a superb job of portraying Sophie, so silently but yet so powerfully. The characters are so rich in context. The emotions of the characters are told so subtly, but yet so clearly and so easy to get in touch with, especially that of Charles. The lip-synching of Irene is also a super job. I watch it as if it was a live concert. The music is superb !! Don't miss the film if you love classical music !!

A truly memorable one !

This is one of the most memorable movies I have seen. Juliette Binoche did a great job as the naive Tereza, which is very convincing at portraying her pain when married someone so different from her. The scene which Tereza tried for sex with no emotion attached is so heart-breaking. I can feel the pain or the agony when Tereza laid flat on the couch. Daniel Day-Lewis as a veteran actor did well. I saw this movie 3 years ago and still remember the heaviness of it. The ending is great.
