Hot Springs Hotel (1997)
Could be a lot better.
I absolutely HATE when the Director and\or Cameraman can not hold the camera steady. Watching this show could give someone whiplash with all the twisty camera work. I also don't condone the self-mutilation of silicone implants, which almost every woman in this show seems to have. The Producers (the Dudelson brothers) did a much better job with their "Compromising Situations" show. I hope Showtime cancels it soon.
Charmed (1998)
I Like It!
Although I've only seen the first episode, I like it enough to tape and keep. The premise of three witch sisters, each with a different power is pretty clever. But I think the WB should have it on back to back with Buffy the Vampire Slayer since both shows have a supernatural theme instead of pairing them with their (the WB) insipid teen dramas.
Pink Floyd: The Wall (1982)
Great Soundtrack
Strange, eerie, and sometimes confusing, but the soundtrack is GREAT!
Sphere (1998)
What was the Sphere?
It's amazing to me that with all the talent associated with this movie, they NEVER explained WHAT the Sphere was. I forced myself to watch it twice to see if I missed something the first time but the only thing I miss is 4 hours of my life. Maybe Michael Crichton explained it in the book which I didn't read. I don't know, and still haven't figured it out. Sphere is the kind of sci-fi movie that gives the genre a bad reputation. I was EXTREMELY dissappointed!
Dark City (1998)
OUTSTANDING!!!
I've watched Dark City 5 times since I purchased it and it just gets better and better every time. The special effects are awesome and the acting is great. The story reminds me of the original Twilight Zone with the twists and turns it takes. On the other hand, I can see why some people wouldn't like it because you really have to pay attention. It's one of my favorite sci-fi movies ever!
The Man in the Iron Mask (1998)
Good story, Good screenplay, Great acting
As a self confessed Alexeandre Dumas fan ( My favorite D&D character is named D'Artagnan) I may be a bit biased in my rating of a Ten for this movie. But John Malkovich and Gerard Depardeau's performances deserve Oscar nominations, they were AWESOME!!!!
Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)
If you like Blues, watch it
I agree that the plot is pretty weak, but there is several MILLION dollars worth of musical talent in this movie. And some decent tunes!
