The Searchers (1956)
Skippable - see El Dorado and Rio Grande instead
Watched with Dad last night on City Library DVD 📀. My library/fb review: ⭐⭐⭐/5. "Quite a disappointment, given the incredible John Ford director and actor John Wayne who was ok, just fine, in the acting but the lines and situations in this film are skippable I'd say. SEE EL DORADO AND RIO GRANDE INSTEAD, PRONTO!! Too many doofus characters, stupid fight scenes, too many scenes painting the Indians in a terrible light and the whites for their atrocious ways in a "just that's the way it is" kind of oh well manner and attitude. The romantic couple flirting scenes were fun. Movie would be bearable at 90mins but is 2hrs. Barely 3 of 5 stars, quite nearly 2.5of5! Vera Miles' character spicy and so lovely, gorgeous, Natalie Wood wonderful too!" Edit: The American Film Institute AFI rated the top ten Westerns, this was #1 but... They got it wrong!
Hulk (2003)
Comic fans delight, TV show fans detest
Disappointing, even as a 'comic book film.' If you're a fan of the TV series from the 1970's, there is nothing in this movie for you. The sci-fi elements are interesting, but the fantasy aspects are stretched too far.
Consider "Hulk (2003)" the "Godzilla-sized" flop of 2003. Furthermore, consider it the "Stinkzilla" of 2003, when compared to comic book film greats such as Batman, Superman, Spiderman, XMen, and even The Phantom!
The people who made this movie owe me a, ahem, 'hulking' refund.
I'll Be Home for Christmas (1998)
Larchmont, NY and New Rochelle and Pelham are
When Jonathan Taylor Thomas is booted from the train by Metro North Railroad at Pelham, we hear the announcer say the next stops are New Rochelle and Larchmont, NY! The main character is trying to get to Larchmont New York in fact! (Zip code is 10538.) I was impressed that the writers/editors showed the correct incorporation date for the village (1891).
