I can't add anything unique to the complaints about the plotting or the sleepwalking Lambert did, but the close captioning on the video version has got to be the worst I've ever seen on a semi-major release. If someone has already mentioned this I'm sorry, but it is REALLY bad. Well, okay, one more thing--would it have been that hard to have Duncan reproduce the accent he used in the series?

Art-yes, entertainment-no. Don't pick up this movie if you want to pop some popcorn and have a good time. Dig up some of your more self-important friends, rent the DVD, and you'll have a blast. Many others have covered the plot, I just want to emphasize going into it with your eyes open. Have someone around to discuss it with, or you'll go nuts.

Perhaps I missed something, but I didn't find Asia Argento all that wonderful. She did have good hair, and a fabulous tattoo. For an evening's entertainment, this one just didn't do it for me. The story rambles, and I would expect some competence in the thieving department,since B Monkey made her name as one.

Some movies are made for video. When a plot turn is fuzzy (and there are a few, believe me), rewind and watch until it makes sense. I adored Julia Ormond in this part. Smilla is damaged, and trusts more out of resignation than anything else. Strong, despite her fears - she is a great heroine. Gabriel Byrne is hot as usual.Worth seeing, if you want to watch closely.

Ewan McGregor and Ashley Judd should be locked in a small room and made to watch this over and over. Maybe then, the both of them will come to their senses,and quit throwing away their considerable talents. This is the worst movie made with decent stars and budget I have ever seen.I saw a few reviews before I rented it, but couldn't believe it would be that bad. It could. Paint your toenails, meditate, take a nap, anything but watch this.

The plot holes in this little number are distracting. Mayberry didn't have a police department this small, for one thing, and no department is going to have a detective working directly under her spouse, for another. Shooting someone usually gets you a day off with pay, for one last quibble. Maura Tierney, while very real as a police officer, is stuck with a terribly written part. The rest of the cast is good, but wasted. A good idea,poorly executed.

Debbie Reynolds outside her perky persona is what drew me, but this movie is a lot more. Brittany Murphy is adorable, and Sean Patrick Flannery should be out of the indies by now. It makes you smile while you watch,a clever story, and no glaring holes in the plot. What more can you want?

Oddly enough, this is a really nice movie. Bad things happen, but for the most part, you would like these people. I may be partial, as I remember the time period very well. Most people weren't porn actors, but a whole lot of drugs were used, and bad clothes worn by folks who would deny it today. Burt Reynolds was a surprise, forgoing all his annoying ticks. The whole casts is great- Heather Graham is maybe the only one out of her depth. See it- it isn't just a "dirty" movie.
