Three Kings (1999)
Truly spectacular
If you're looking for a no-brainer, shoot-em-up, blow everything up type of movie that leaves you pumped up and wanting to fire a Bazooka, this is NOT the movie for you.
Thoughtfully done and wonderfully filmed, Three Kings is the story of 3 American soldiers who go on the hunt for Saddam Hussein's gold reserves, only to discover that they have the ability to make a difference in some Kuwati's lives, and that some things are more important than money.
The cinematography alone is worth seeing this movie for, but the acting of George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, and Ice Cube are fantastic - Mark Wahlberg has proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's matured into a fine actor, and you can expect great things from him in the future.
Run fast to the theatres... You don't want to miss this one.
The Late Shift (1996)
Good movie for an overview of what happened
While The Late Shift is in no way as good as the original book that describes in detail what happened to David Letterman, Jay Leno, Johnny Carson, Helen Kushnik and the rest of the late night cast of Characters, it is quite enjoyable, a good ride, and a fun time. Both Leno and Letterman are played well, if not a wee bit over-acted. It's worth renting.
