WOW! What a waste of good celluloid
5 August 2006
I was expecting this to be at least a half way decent film as I am a fan of both Miss Jolie and Mr Pitt. I just finished watching the film on HBO and I can honestly say "thank goodness I did not waste my good money at the theatre". I enjoy action films but this was utterly boring. The script, although witty at times, was very lacking in intelligence and did nothing to add to the rather outlandish antics. I thought the action sequences were quite well choreographed and once in a while imaginative but beyond that, as I said, boring. I certainly hope that Miss Jolie and Mr Pitt will put this piece of trash behind them and never look back! They are such clever actors and regardless of their personal lives I hope future projects are much more entertaining.

Bewitched (2005)

Skip the film - go straight to the soundtrack
19 November 2005
Much like Paul McCartney' Give My Regards To Broadstreet, Bewitched is an awful film with GREAT music. When I first saw Give My Regards To Broadstreet I told folks to skip the film and go straight to the soundtrack. I feel precisely the same way about Bewitched. It could have been so much more than it is and had the real potential for a classic. I truly enjoy watching Nicole Kidman but even this talented lady could not save Bewitched! The script is terrible, Will Ferrell stinks (no talent what so ever), and the story is promising, but never develops properly because of the script.

Buy the CD and enjoy the tunes!

Spanglish (2004)

What a good film!
16 December 2004
No spoilers.

My Wife and I saw Spanglish last weekend as a "sneak preview" and we were quite thrilled with the film. The entire cast is superb and the acting is spot on. I found myself relating to Adam Sandler' character more and more as the film went on and was so surprised at how good an actor Mr Sandler really is. I have always enjoyed his comedic films and to see just how good a serious actor he is solidifies him as one my favourites. The film is nicely shot although not spectacular in its cinematography. The lighting was very good and the tones and colour of the film were very pleasant. The soundtrack was crisp and the DTS presentation was flawless. I highly recommend this one folks, well worth the price of admission.

The Music Is Super
29 December 2003
I was highly impressed with the music and vocal performances of all the characters/actors. The acting was very good, if not a bit over the top at times. The only negative thing I can say would be to two scenes where the "ladies" are dressed a little to revealingly and the dancing in one scene is a bit too suggestive for younger eyes.

The Rookie (2002)

Wow. What a film. A MUST see
20 April 2002
I used to think that Field Of Dreams was the best baseball movie ever made, then For Love Of The Game. Those two have just been knocked down 1 notch each. The Rookie was fantastic not just for the baseball but for the wonderful acting and powerful story. Dennis Quaid was superb and I sincerely hope he gets a nod from the Academy for his portrayal of Jim Morris.

Thank you Disney for the Film of the Year!!

Pearl Harbor (2001)

A Disappointment
25 May 2001
The biggest blockbuster of the summer?? Its big and its loud but its also very weak. I was very disappointed with the over the top Hollywood-ness of Pearl Harbor. The action scenes were great, the love story so so, the acting was blah and cliche. The exception was Jon Voight who portrayed President Roosevelt with strength, dignity and I believe in a very honest fashion. Overall a big disappointment; wait for the DVD!!

For The Kid In All Of US
7 August 2000
My wife and I took our 3 year old to see this film and we all enjoyed it. In the age of lots of shoot 'em up and Pokemon "crap" Thomas was refreshing and light. For all those who have slammed this film as being the worst of 2000 I can only imagine that they have no sense of wonder and either don't have kids or don't read to their kids. Take your little ones, leave your synicism at the door and be a kid again. Its o.k. to enjoy a kids film!! :)

$50 Million In The First 5 Days !! ??
29 December 1999
I'm guilty of contributing to the $50 million however my alibi is my 3 year old son who thought the movie was great! I guess since it was created for his age group I cant argue with him, It was after all, pretty harmless. Unless you have a budding Pokemon trainer in your household - stay away - far away from this one. The animation is very cheap and the sound is horrible.

Kevin Hits A Home Run
26 September 1999
For Love Of The Game is a film worth seeing. I combines a great love story and a great game and wins on both counts. I will not say anything about the film story (as I'm sure most everyone reading this already knows the story). I am writing to point out my dismay with the editing of the film. On two different occasions there are aerial shots Yankee stadium and the seats are not filled. When the camera shoots the stands from inside the stadium the seats are filled. A superb film that I rate a 9.9 (-.1 for the editing goof).

Deep Blue Sea (1999)
7/10
Entertaining
9 August 1999
I went into Deep Blue Sea knowing that it was a shark movie and knowing that nothing could top the original Jaws film. I also kept a very open mind. The film was actually quite good (IMHO).

The special effects were quite well done, the computer generated sharks were decent and the action was reasonably constant with very few "lulls". The story was predictable but there were a couple of good "jump out of your seat moments".

All in all it was a pretty brain dead film that lets you have some fun, knowing full well that this is not Jaws and does not pretend to be.

Adam
