Red Planet (2000)
One word: Predictable!
SPOILER ALERT Everything that could possibly go wrong in this movie does go wrong. I guess all it takes to make a feature film is good special effects, lots of action, death, and the pathetic love story where the guy (I mean Hero) ends up with the girl in the end. *YAWN!* How about something ORIGINAL, please!
The Green Mile (1999)
Not sure what all the hype is about
I didn't know anything about the movie before I went to go see it, but was a little disappointed to find out it was based so much on fantasy. It was actually rather disturbing in a few scenes, going far beyond what's necessary to get a message across (i.e. the dry sponge scene.) A huge amount of time was spent focusing on a mouse, of all things. For a while there I was wondering if that's all there was to this movie--a mouse. I suppose it was somewhat entertaining, but I didn't find the storyline to be all that remarkable and the movie itself left me with an unsettling feeling.
The Dream Team (1989)
I liked it
The characters in this movie are well done and well acted. The comedy is great. Michael Keaton has some great one-liners and facial expressions. You can really relate to his situation. One of the better comedies I've seen.
Ronin (1998)
Typical shoot 'em up car chase movie
Good actors, but the action scenes were mostly overdone and unrealistic. One of the lamest scenes was when two cars were driving down a busy highway, swerving around oncoming cars for what seemed like eternity. The worst was when they showed a shot of the oncoming cars from behind and NONE of them were slamming on their brakes! Wouldn't you at least STEP on your brake if you saw a car coming at you head-on? After all this, without so much as a scratch, the chase finally ends with a flat tire! Give me a break. At least let me believe it COULD happen. I'm tired of unrealistic movies, they're getting old.
