4 Minute Mile (2014)
2/10
Not an original moment to be found.
12 January 2015
How does this type of drivel get made? Who sits down and decides to create something so cliché? Every single character was a cliché. Who enjoys this kind of predictability? Couldn't the writer have come up with even one original character? Maybe this is the world of talentless cookie cutter people that surrounds him. None of the relationships in the film would ever exist because people just don't behave this way to each other. Someone explain why he would listen to his brother when he acted like that? When coach said wax on wax off was the most enjoyable moment because I had been saying it to myself the entire film and I found something to laugh about. If you want to see a much better version of this film watch the Jerico Mile with the amazing Peter Strauss.

Flipped (I) (2010)

I couldn't wait for it to end.
29 August 2011
Just because a film has a cute ending does not make it a good film. The writing acting and especially the directing were not just bad they were terrible..I didn't find any reason to think that the two leads would be a good couple...the dialog was boring and not even slightly reflective of the era it was uselessly based in...there was not one funny moment in it...it was not a comedy or a drama...it had no great family moments...the whole retarded brother sub plot was totally useless and difficult to watch (his acting was brutal)...but not as bad as Mr. Loski...the grandfather who neglected his grandson and swooned over the neighbours daughter was disturbing...Bryce's best friend would never have been Bryce's best friend...Juli's inability to forgive was out of character...the saxophone subplot disappeared and I'm as bored of this review as I was of the film. 4 was generous now I reflect.

I watched Election the night before and to think this film is rated higher than a masterpiece of true comedy like that has made me loose respect for this website and it's members.

Not you typical review or mine:)
28 November 2010
I speak English and only English. I saw this flick tonight in Odessa Ukraine. In Ukrainian. I had someone translating in my ear...very bizarre way to watch something. It was hard to tell at first just how bad this movie was because of the surreal experience I was having then I started to realize that I really didn't need translation because the only thing that was in the dialogue was people that I cared nothing about talking about what they were going to do. I think I really only needed about 10% of the translation that I actually got to get the same effect. At one point I asked my friend to stop word for word translation unless there was something new and interesting being added to the plot and she hardly said anything else for the second half of the film. I don't watch many flicks anymore because I never really see a trailer that I like. It's almost all remakes now...so sad. But I really think I would have rather seen a remake of some bad flick I've seen, than to watch this original and I live for creativity and originality. Are writers like this really getting work. You can see that I'm no writer but I really think I could do much better. Was there any plot at all? The fact that this exists makes me want to protest something but I'm not sure what.

Good follow up (excluding Venus Project)
18 February 2009
This is the obvious follow up to the 3rd part of the first film. It is just as eye opening but at one point in the film the decision to involve the concepts of "The Venus Project" is a bad decision. The problem is that there are some major issues with The Venus Project that are very short sighted.

I have studied the concept in immense detail using a specific ability I has to see eventuality using probability algorithms. It fails in enough areas to invalidate it. There definitely needs to be an intermediary step before any utopian based project is implemented.

I applaud Peter Joseph for caring but he needs to study the concept in much more detail before deciding to piggyback his cause with The Venus Project.

Character Comedy
11 July 2005
I have read many reviews, mostly positive, about South Park. Although the reviews were well written and informative in most cases, not even one review mentioned the true brilliance of the show. The characters and the voices. My two favourites are Cartman and Butters. Trey Parker is a god. I could never have imagined the day I would enjoy an animated character as much as Bugs Bunny. I was wrong. Eric has made me laugh in hysterics like Bugs never could. The subtleties are priceless. I especially like when he talks in his soft whinny voice when he wants something. He is no cliché in any way that I'm aware of. Originality is the purest form of genius.

Whatever
15 January 2005
In order for me to enjoy a character based film like this I must have some reason to like the characters.

I loved Harvey Keitel, Anna Paquin, Sam Neill but even though I normally really like Holly Hunter and her acting was good, what is there to possibly like about her character. She is a self absorbed jerk who acts like a spoiled little slut (I hate that word but it is appropriate for description). The way she treated Sam Neill was deplorable. She even tries to kill herself at the end and leave her daughter an orphan. I was hoping everyone would get as fed up with her crap as I did and leave her in the woods! Then we wouldn't get to see anymore of her selfish tantrums. Why is it that we as men are suppose to fall for any woman in any movie as long as she is not half bad looking. No matter how badly women treat men, they get away with anything and men are portrayed as buffoons that are to just put up with it. I haven't noticed who wrote this but it must have been some man hating feminist. Just checked and it was a woman...surprise surprise.

High Crimes (2002)
I'm so stupid
24 July 2004
Why do I waste my time watching this fabricated drivel? Well, I guess maybe I saw Morgan Freeman and thought it had potential. The people writing, producing and directing this probably don't even realize they have very little creative talent. They probably haven't even figured out that they are stealing all of their ideas from other films. All of the plot lines, all the character types are completely unoriginal. Please people, try thinking outside the box little and actually create something. I didn't hate the film but there was not one memorable scene in it and so many plot holes that my eyes are soar from rolling them back in my head so much. A few years from now this film will probably pop up on T.V., I'll watch a little bit, eventually change the channel and not even remember that I have already seem it.

Some good things?
15 April 2004
What a waste of great cinematography. There must be a plot in volume 2...please. Pulp Fiction is the greatest film ever made. I really wanted to like this. Is it possible that volume 2 will fill in the blanks and make this into a better film? This is an amalgamation of many films in the past. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. Pure genius comes from creation not duplication...but it is very eclectic. I'd like to know what Q.T. could do if he tried to be more original. There has to be more to this. Well, on the bright side it is not the same old crap that keeps getting prefabricated by the Hollywood mainstream. I really don't have much else to say because I've kind of forgotten about it.

I really tried to like it!
6 April 2002
I usually like this type of movie if done well. Fast Times (watched part of it the same day actually) Hilarious (Sean Penn is Comedically Mesmerizing as Jeff Spicolli), Clueless (under rated I believe) but I could not see the appeal. It just wasn't funny. The cast was O.K., the writing alright and it sort of kept my attention but it wasn't funny at all and definitely not rememberable. If you want to see a clever funny court movie I recommend "From the Hip" an 80's flick starring Judd Nelson when he wasn't bored with acting!

Best line I've ever heard!
24 March 2002
This film contains the best line I've ever heard. This might not be an exact quote...It doesn't matter how much you love a someone it's who you become when your with that person and what they bring out in you that truly matters. It helped me find perspective with some relationships I've been involved in. I hope it can help others.

Brilliant Acting - Dark Subject!
24 March 2002
A very good film that I recommend highly if you are in the right frame of mind to view truly evil subject matter. The acting by Walken, Penn, Penn and Masterson is brilliant. Espescially the last few minutes. Sean Penn's performance is my favourite acting moment of all time. Even writing this makes me take a deep exhale.

A surreal documentary?
8 January 1999
This movie is a masterpiece. I gave it a ten. When thinking about other films that I have given a ten to, this one received that rating for a different reason. Others have received a ten for overall excellence in a multitude of areas such as acting, writing, cinematography... but I believe that "Kids" deserved this rating because I am still not sure what was real and what was not in this film. I can think of no other film that I felt this way about. I am so impressed with the guts it took to cast this film with unknowns and the style of direction which Larry Clark chose. So truly unique. Wow!
