Sabretooth (2002)
Sort of Who framed Roger Rabbit meets the Predator
This is a bad movie, with many acts of gross stupidity carried out by the badly drawn characters. Still, if you appreciate a good bad movie, then its worth a watch.
Obviously someone behind this film was a big Predator fan, as several scenes bear striking resemblance. The creature view was pretty much a direct (if inferior) lift, as was the scene where the goofy token black kid hilariously fought the tiger on a log bridge. Of course, the fact that the cgi was so poor (as other reviews have alluded to) meant that any direct interaction with the creature was more like WFRR or SpaceJam, which is probably not a good thing.
If anybody wants to see a film of this ilk, only good, I strongly recommend The Brotherhood of the Wolf (its foreign, but well worth watching even if your a subtitle-phobe). Sabretooth is really one for people who like cheesily bad films when theres nothing else on. Others (those with sense probably) should avoid.
Bachelors Walk (2001)
About as far from Glenroe as you could get
This is possibly the best home produced show of its kind ever made in Ireland. The show revolves around three guys living in a house on Bachelors Walk, which is a quay in Dublin. The three lads are best described as easy-going wasters. Set against the backdrop of modern Dublin, the stories tell about the trials and tribulations of our heros. It's probably not ground breaking stuff, and almost certainly has more appeal for Irish people especially those who know Dublin than it would for a more global audience. Where the show really excels though, apart from the fine acting of the entire cast, is in managing to use the backdrop of the new Ireland and just show normal people here going about their daily lives, albeit in a whimsical fashion. In fact-ah, deadly.
I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988)
a pure mickey take on blax-ploitation movies
I must start by saying that I thought that this film was great. It was one of the funniest films ever and featured some unforgettable characters like Mr Big, Slammer, Hammer and especially Antonio Fargas as the aptly named Flyguy. The plot is really too bizarre to explain but basically involves a guy whose father returns with his band of friends to destroy the evil gang of Mr Big, even if this guy isn't too happy about his hero status. I strongly recommend that you watch this film.
Fatal Deception: Mrs. Lee Harvey Oswald (1993)
worthless, waste of space and effort
i must admit i cheated slightly here because i didn't watch the whole film. the reason for this, however, was that it was appalling. this is one of the worst movies i have ever watched and i've seen "cool as ice". the acting, directing, make-up everything about this film sucked. the main actress looked the same when she was supposed to be in school in Russia and when she was a housewife in America some 20-25 years later. I mean, she looked identical, hadn't aged a day. This film tried to ask some questions and raise some issues, it failed. This reel should never have made it off the cutting room floor unless it was so that it could be thrown into the infernal fires of hell.
Renegade (1992)
one of the biggest wastes of tv space ever
i've watched this programme far too often for my own good and must agree with that brit that it's atrocious. I hate lorenzo lamas and the guy that plays bobby sixkiller. the plot is paper thin and steve cannell should stick to typing on and trowing paper in end credits.
the most irritating thing about this irritating programme is the bit at the start, you know the bit, where the voice says "he was a cop and good at his job, but he committed the ultimate sin and testified against other cops......GONE BaaaaaD".
this must be the most hair-tearing, screen punching, vomit inducing, horror filled intro in the history of television itself. i hate this show, please hate it too.
