Big Momma's House (2000)

Hmmmm......

I went to see this movie with pretty low expectations. The previews had seemed pretty amusing, but nothing that I would actively go out and see. But sadly, with little else showing at the movies I wasn't left with much of a choice.

The movie started badly, and got worse. The cast tried hard, but really they had little to work with, and in the end it only appeared as a pale imitation of so many other films.

The Mrs Doubtfire comparisons are very obvious, yet am I the only one who noticed that the plot seemed to exactly mirror Kindergarten cop.

Hmmm.... whilst not the worst film I have ever seen, it would definitely fall in the worst five. 2/10

Virtuosity (1995)

Pathetic film that tries too hard

Virtuosity could have been a good film. The basic premise of the plot is very interesting. A computer generated villain on the loose in a modern society has all the signs of a great action film. But then the one basic premise does not create a great film. And as a result when you add pretty ordinary acting, cliched special effects and action sequences and a really poor script that just tries too hard to be cool you come away with a really poor film. 4/10

American Gothic (1995–1998)

A classic

One of the greatest tragedies of modern times was the untimely demise of this fantastic show... Unlike most other new programs that come to our television screens each year, American Gothic was truly original.

The plot was intriguing and the scripts extremely well written. Shaun Cassidy was absolutely brilliant as the evil Lucas Buck, and Lucas Black was one of the few child actors that did not become irritating after a couple of episodes. It was brilliant plain and simple with the greatest season finale to ever grace our screens. It had everything a great television show should have....and much, much more
