48 Christmas Wishes (2017 TV Movie)
7/10
Reaching its objectives....
25 December 2020
I agree that this movie is just a scale above amateur homemade attempts of filmmaking... However, as far as my 8 year old son seems to be enchanted by watching it (for second consecutive year), means that in a strange way this film has somehow fulfilled its' mission....

The Campaign (2012)

Let me understand...
21 April 2013
It is a common secret that Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis do not have the quality of Peter Sellers or Jack Lemon. However, they do have the ability to make you laugh(if you do not have very serious demands of what you see). Unfortunately, "The Campaign" proved that you have to think more than twice if you want to spend a couple of hours watching films with these guys. Not, because they are untalented (even if their talents are not vast), but because they are type-casted as protagonists in movies addressed to toddlers. Ferrell does what he normally does, mugging and shouting without any reason justified by the "plot"...Galifianakis is much more consistent to his role but the script seems to be written in one evening, following the typical formula of modern Hollywood "comedies", which are produced with no sense of what cinema really is and with the meaning of talent in total absence. I'm sure that even an 8 year old child could produce a much more clever story than this. Please let me understand why this film was shot. Will anybody of the participants can feel proud of it at the future or it will be unforgettable? I m sure that there are thousands of comedies much better than this, even with less than the 1% of the budget used for "The Campaign".

Less well known than deserves!
21 April 2013
"The Saragossa Manuscript" is certainly an authentic masterpiece. Although its' duration is nearly 3 hours, the interest of the spectator does not fade in any part of the film. It is a fairy tale which contains several stories, something that could cause a confusion to the viewer. Here, we speak of something completely different. The narration flows so well that leads to the interference of the sub stories naturally, with no need of cheap tricks, which are very often used by many modern filmmakers at their vain attempts to imitate "Pulp Fiction". The artistic part is excellent and acting is brilliant from all the participants. Highly recommended!!! Νevertheless, its' fame is not so well spread as it deserves and possibilities of bumping into it is only at late night screenings of a national TV network or at a marginal cinema theater.

King of Kings (1961)

Classical
14 April 2001
After the perfection of Zeffirelli's "Jesus of Nazareth" and the pure artistic realism of Pazollini's "Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo", "King of Kings" is the 3rd most classical film which is referred to Jesus Christ's life. I admit that the cast was not the best it could be ,except Herode Antypas and Pilatus, maybe the story was too predictable concerning the way of the story was told, but it is too descent and it is what someone can expect from a biblical film. I think that if anyone wants to have a classical view of Jesus life it is better to see "King of Kings",although the movies I mentioned above are much better than any other similar. On the other hand it is superior than "The Greatest Story Ever Told".An all star movie with not so good results. "King of Kings"It's just classical(Although it is not the best).

How a writer can destroy his own masterpiece.....
20 September 1999
Some years ago I read "Johnny Got His Gun"and it changed my life and the way of my thinking.A perfect book with a unique subject and very interesting from the first page until the last. So when I decided to see the movie,I thought that I would see something incredible. But I was completely wrong. The excellent writer Dalton Trumpo proved himself as a totally untalented director. Not even a 10 percent of the meaning of the book, someone can see.The actors were extremely bad, especially Timothy Bottoms whose performance was rather ridiculous. Its a pity that someone else didn't have the chance to make it a masterpiece, as the book is.

A hymn to simplicity
14 June 1999
I could never imagine some months ago, that a Bulgarian movie I saw a night that I didn't have something more interesting to do,would make me admire it so much,so that I could definitely say that it is a masterpiece of the European cinema ever made. No special effects,no impressive decoration.Just a plain composition but also a genius one. The wife of a farmer is being raped and murdered by a gang,in front of the eyes of her little daughter. The farmer hungry for revenge brings the girl up as a boy, and when she is old enough they kill one by one the killers. This movie is a hymn to simplicity. No dialogs when it is not necessary, full of primitive feelings with perfect harmony between actors and natural location.Excellent!!!!!!!!
