Where's Hugh Grant When You Need Him?
11 June 2021
The movie is fine. The supporting actors were wonderful. However, the.lead actor, Sam Claflin, was miscast. The role required someone charming and witty with great comic timing. He had none of those characteristics. I know Hugh Grant was too old for the part, but ihe sure would have been wonderful in that role.

The Actor Playing the Student was too Old
8 March 2021
In my opinion, the series should have cast an 18-19 year old to play the part of the boy. It would have been a more accurate representation of the power dynamic between student and teacher. Although the actor is 10 years younger than Mara, they look like contemporaries.

One of My MOST Favorite Guilty Pleasures

I LOVE this movie. I don't care how terrible critics might think it is. It's fun, romantic, entertaining, an old fashioned yarn. It came out right after Robert Shaw made a "splash" in Jaws, and he's fabulous as usual. Don't let them make you feel guilty about loving this movie. It's great.
