Gekijôban Poketto Monsutâ: Myûtsû no Gyakushû (1998)
A great movie for all the family
This is the one who hooked us all into the Pokémon craze. Great story, emotional and a great soundtrack, especially the musical score. All the Pokémon you know and love are there. Interesting the never seen footage only available on video since it links the movie to the Seventh Badge episode of the second season.
American Pie (1999)
Cow Pie
That's what is looks like. Very distasteful "comedy". Not as funny or original as those 70's Porky's or National Lampoons movies. This represents the type of movies coming out to "entertain" our young adults. In other words.."sex, booze and drugs is cool" very typical of our society.
Troops (1997)
Couldn't believe how good it was!
When I first saw it I couldn't believe this was done by an "amateur crew". You can actually believe it could be some lost footage of the original Star Wars film. Lucas should give these guys a job doing the new sequels. Excellent, hilarious and great fun for everybody. Can't wait for the sequel.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)
Why waste your time?
Why waste your time watching this one when you can watch the best parts on the trailers and T.V. adds. Why it made so much money? Well, I guess Hollywood found out that making silly themed movies to the 14 to 21 year old audience really worked. If you take a look and see how many new "youth movies" are coming out you get the idea. They all go to the movies on weekends and they represent a large group of moviegoers. I think they should've left Austin Powers back in the 60's.
The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)
If you consider yourself a Wookie...SEE THIS!!!
When I first saw this, it was so silly and boring that I questioned if this was actually intended for Wookies rather than humans. Who knows? The first 15 minutes are entertaining but as soon as we get blasted by holo videos that only a junkie on a trip could stand... things started to go down, or I should say up, up a tall tree on a Wookie planet. The cartoon was OK but the art was simply horrible. I mean with so many great artists used for the movie, I guess they decided for a Wookie artist. So there you have it, an all-Wookie production that if you are or consider yourself a Wookie you should see this WA(wookie audience) special. Well... I at least know now that the Star Wars score actually had lyrics to it.
Titanic (1997)
Truthfully, a masterpiece of what a boring movie should be
What is so great about this movie that it made so much money? We will never know. But all the hype about the real Titanic during that time sure helped it. But looking behind the hype and the historical reference, what do we have, really? Just another fictional love story between two characters that nobody could identify with. C'mon, if it were a story of my real life, I wouldn't want DiCapprio to star in it. He is a one dimensional actor with no real talent, just a "pretty face" which only a teenage girl or a confused homo would fall in love with. The other actors were too transparent and unreal. James Cameron was smart using such a clever background and special effects. I've seen it only once in video to see what was all about and fell asleep thru the first 21/2 hours of it. The only good scenes were the sinking of the ship. Why such a crappy movie made so much money? I ill never know but it tells me a lot of the 'American way of life' here. An Oscar for that? Where were L.A. Confidential, Good Will Hunting, Amistad? British controlled Oscar Board of Directors...bah!
