Dead Again (1991)

true thrill
5 December 2001
This movie was the first true thriller i've ever seen. I've actually felt those shivers, especially when Emma Thompson's character accused Mike Church (Ken Branagh) for killing her in their previous life and started living alone. It's always a delight to have Kenneth Branagh as director and actor in the same time, and this movie, as overlooked as it is, is such a good example of his talent in thrillers, too. He's not Bard-only. Kudos to Thompson&Jacobi too, especially Derek Jacobi, who plays his part with a very disturbing calmness which, along with the liveliness of other characters, balances the feel of thrill. But i think the best thing about the movie is, you can hardly identify the killer, or even who anyone is. You'll see what i mean. Highly recommended.

Worst movie i've ever seen
12 October 2001
i can't stand it. i can't stand the idea that this movie was made, actually. i couldn't stand the movie too-it was the first movie ever that i walked out in its half. as a teenager myself, although i'm not living in USA, i may know a thing or two about how hard it can be, i also may understand how hard it is to have a father who's not around alot&who doesn't give a damn about what you're doing. but i certainly can't understand how someone who's found to be *sweet* by many people (i mean that front girl, whatever her name is) can be so irresponsible, so stupid, so slutty&so hard to identify with. i mean, we have to identify ourselves with that girl in order to love the movie, that's how it works. it's just a hollywood teen-flick, it's not a deep psychological analysis movie where you can just observe the characters. you have to feel something positive. in the movie break, i could just think of beating someone in order to get all this anger out of me, which isn't really something positive. anyway, i do not recommend this to anyone, don't see it if you love life. i don't care 'bout the others.

Attention Homer reader
25 March 2001
You have to pay pretty much attention to it, if you read Odysseia, the poem of Homer, because it's the best way to enjoy the movie's tricks. I don't want to spoil the movie, because it's so good, so i won't tell you any clues, just go&see. The acting is awesome (i adored Clooney&Tim Blake Nelson, as well as John Goodman), the songs are awesome (too bad it's not actually Clooney singing it!), the usual Coen kind of humor is awesome. What can i say, i loved it! It's a rather slow movie, but it just gets you in (off course, if you really want to get in), so you don't really mind that. And i, as an avid Homer reader, enjoyed it so much because i do like to think about and analyze the little secret things that happen in a movie, and this movie, as based on Odysseia and passing in 30s or 40s, i don't know, has lots of stuff that i like. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Recommended to Schwimmer fans...and others too
30 July 2000
Well, actually i've seen this movie on tv, so there wasn't any waste of money for me, but i don't actually think that it would be any waste if i've seen it on theater (does it make sense? naaah :P). Anyway i loved this movie just 'cause i didn't think of this as a black comedy from the beginning to the end. 'Cause it's not a comedy as it claims to be. It's a dark movie&one of these that i can't really decide to what genre they belong, but that i like so much. The actors are good (i'm a huge Schwimmer fan&i also adore Gwyneth Paltrow-so my opinion may not be very objective, hehe), also it has sweet moments of its own. To end it, don't expect so much of anything in life, you won't be disappointed. 8/10

South Park (1997– )
It's pure fun!!!!
30 May 2000
Actually, 'cause of the Turkish TV channels who don't know what is enjoyable and what's not, we're not able to have the greatest show of all times, the mighty "South Park" here, but i've been able to watch just one episode of it and had the fun of my life! I wanna thank Trey Parker&Matt Stone for this. It's something completely different and that's really what we want to see. But at least i'm able to listen to its songs and they are also great!! Thank God for South Park.

The most honest movie of all time
25 March 2000
The first comment I've heard for this movie was "It's a strange movie." When my sister & me were going to see it on TV, that was the friend of hers (who's American) who was making this comment. Strange... I don't think so. It's just something awesome. You can't even describe it. 'Cause it says it all. It doesn't lie (except Alyssa's lie for Holden being her first). Never. And it's funny to death. Maybe too funny. I want to say "Congra"f****n"tulations" to Mr. Kevin Smith aka Silent Bob, for making us watch such a great movie. 1000 and more out of 10. I'm waiting for Dogma to come here (in Istanbul), I can't wait for it!

If you believe there's nothing up my sleeve, then NOTHING is cool...
19 March 2000
Yeah, it's right. Then really nothing is cool. What am I saying? I don't know. It's maybe I'm really impressed by Andy's story. Maybe. But how can you be not impressed by a story like this? A story of a genius?

Well, it's all there is. Andy was TOO intelligent for us. It was really more than enough.

Anyway, did we come here to criticize ourselves, or the movie? So, the movie is really touching, but it lacks on laughs alittle. What we have to know before going to see the movie is, that it's not completely a comedy. Well, of course it has its moments, but the real mission is not to make people laugh to tears.

Jim Carrey, one of my all-time favorite actors, in his second drama (with Truman) is awesome as always. You can see that he's living Andy. I think the greatest moment of his performance is when he finds out the secret of the cure in Phillipines:he just laughs. I laughed with him in there. My friends told me that I was crazy. Like him.

At the end, I highly recommend it. It's something more than a biography, it's LIFE.

The best movie I've seen in theaters for 2 months
15 March 2000
To tell the truth, I've gone to see a psychological drama, not a thriller, and it satisfied me totally. Although its end was a little TOO expected (it was obvious that Peter was going to die)and TOO UNexpected (the movie shouldn't end like that, maybe they did it 'cause it was way TOO long-2 hours and a half), the movie got me and didn't let out till the end. I think Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Cate Blanchett were all great, but Gwyneth Paltrow did a good work, too.

So, don't expect to be thrilled to death, 'cause it's just NOT that. It's not the diary of a gay psycho, neither. It's a silent&good movie, which tells the story of a young man who just didn't want to lose all he had in some time: A life. So go and watch it in that way, then you'll see, Tom Ripley will get you.

The first horror movie I've seen in a movie theater...a good start
28 January 2000
Actually, I never thought that a horror movie would shake me that good, especially if it's a re-production, but it did. It's the first one, as i said, that i have seriously seen, and a good starting point. Except its not-that-wise end, the movie thrilled me good and made me pass good time. I loved it. I never knew that a movie like this would have a little bit of wit, but it did. It was just a good experience. The great actings from Geoffrey Rush (one of my favorites since "Shine", who plays the charismatic rich guy here, a whole different thing) and Chris Kattan impressed me too. I didn't want Steven Price to die. Neither Pritchett. I think if this couple survived at the end, it would be more original than the assistant chick and the former pro. But i know it isn't possible for the movie. Well, overall, i liked it. Recommended.

Boggie plays it again, again, again&nobody gets bored.
14 October 1999
The best of 40's. Simply the best. The story about a man&woman which is not usually seen. Boggie&Bergman. One of the best couples of all times. Maybe the best. So, I watched that movie 5 or 6 times, i didn't count. But who cares? I can watch it again, and again. It's just that beautiful so you never get bored of seeing. I can't say any other thing. Oh, the best scene? My favorite is the one where Rick tells Ilsa all the pain he suffered for years and then kisses her in the dark. It just inspires me so damn much. To people who didn't see it yet: You're missing so so many things. So, just watch the movie now and start missing nothing. The life's much better like that. Play it again, Humphrey.

An action movie with real adrenaline...What we wanna see!
8 October 1999
That's a really great movie. It made me have cool habits like loving the cinema in a way I never did, appreciate really good actors like John Travolta (coolest&most charismatic man ever!), Nicolas Cage, and actresses like Joan Allen. Well, from the moment it starts, it makes you disconnect from the world and give your attention of life to the movie. That's a REAL action movie, like those things by Jackie Chan, where people only do those Far-East bull. THIS IS SERIOUS ENERGY! John Woo shows his real directing skills. Well, it's a must-see!

Dish Dogs (2000 Video)

Dish love?
2 October 1999
Seen the movie on TV yesterday. And now commenting on it. Well, that's a movie of two genres (so, if you call them genre...): Road-feel good movie. And there's philosophy also. Two friends who love dishwashing. Morgan (Sean Astin), the philosophic one, and Jason (Matthew Lillard-finally a role which made me like him!) the more sweet one, who loves the life&Molly. Well, i don't know if it will show up on video (or it did already), but well, it's kind of movie that you shouldn't buy but you can watch on TV, and enjoy. There are in the way too much chattering of Morgan sometime, but still a real thing to make you watch it: Matt Lillard sings a love song in the end! :)

Scream (1996)

Really worth watching.
2 October 1999
I've just seen Scream for the first time last night on TV. Well, before, i had watch its final, but not the whole movie. I don't think that this movie is a masterpiece, but is really worth a watching. Before i've seen it, i was thinking that it wasn't as good as people around me said, and also wasn't a movie i would really want to see. But it was. So, i found Matt Lillard's acting, um, in a way exaggerated alittle, but it doesn't count so much. Anyway, i give that movie an 8, and end the discussion.

A good movie...
28 September 1999
Well, i just have to say-that's the movie that made me a real Freddie Prinze Jr. fan. I think he has one of the most innocent faces ever came to the cinema history. Anyway, like 10 Things, it's a feel-good movie again with really good actings. I don't agree with the ones complaining about the fast-changing of Laney-OK, it's alittle fast but tell me, did you see 'Grease'? Or know the scene at the fair? Then you have nothing to say about the thing in "She's All That". So, you can freely rent the movie, lads, if you want to enjoy really, and dads, if you want to know how your kid think&talk. At the end, IT'S A GOOD MOVIE.

Don't worry, be happy
27 September 1999
Yes, that was the feeling of mine when i left the theater. Hakuna matata. So, it's a sweet teenage movie. But to be true, i didn't like it so damn much like She's All That. I don't know why. But, i just want to say that Julia Stiles' (the best young actress of her generation, i think. This girl rules!) Kat Stratford was one of the most realistic, smart, great characters of all the teen movies. A girl who doesn't want to act like the other ones expect her to do. Come on, that's a REAL person. I think the best things about the movie are Julia Stiles, the sequence where Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cameron) explains to Larisa Oleynik (Bianca) what kind of person she is, and the Heath Ledger's (Patrick) song scene. These are just awesome things. But there are not-that-good things too, like how Bianca can't understand anything about Joey until the moment he starts pausing in front of her, and how can a person like Kat can sell (yeah, i can only find that word to use, sell) herself to just a GUITAR? We knew that she was in love with Patrick before, but she could resist him before, too. Hmmmm... Anyway, at the end, rent the movie&enjoy it. That's what you have to do. Again, don't worry, be happy! Or why would somebodies out there, Tinseltown, film things like that? It's just for your happiness, your smiles. Then...

Hey you, wake up...Get colorized, and return to the true world!
24 September 1999
That's a real awesome movie. I mean, both the effects&actors (the whole thing in this movie) are great. From Tobey Maguire&Reese Witherspoon, to Joan Allen&William H. Macy, the actors (they are the most important things about a movie, i think) are really wonderful. What can i do other than praising everything about this film? Nothing, really nothing. The subject, the script, everything...Wow!

The greatest movie I have ever seen...
20 September 1999
Well, I don't know what to write. The only thing that I can say about the movie...you know that already. But to mention one by one, I wanna thank&congratulate Mel Gibson for his great directing in this second movie of his, Angus McFadyen, Catherine McCormack&David O'Hara for giving the best playings (although every actor in the movie are just awesome, I think they're the bests), Randall Wallace for a great script, and so on. So, I recommend it to every single one person in the world, who wants to see a miracle.
