Ravenous (1999)
A Movie I Missed In The Theater But Am Glad I Finally Saw On Video
This movie is strange, quirky, funny, gruesome, dark, comical, scary as can be, fascinating and a movie that I will watch many times, now that I have seen it finally! Missed it in the theater but have it now on video and have watched it twice and will be watching it over and over for many years. Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle, Jeffrey Jones, David Arquette and all the rest of the cast did a great job at getting us to care about their characters and do everything from cringe at the gore to laugh at the funny lines in the movie. At the beginning, you know it will be funny, if you didn't have a clue before viewing it, when after delivering a serious quote by Nietsche <sp> another quote was made by Anonymous......... "Eat Me" LOLOL Need I say more? See it, rent it, buy it. Thumbs up, way up.
Vampire (1979)
A Movie That Left Me Wanting More Of Richard Lynch
Good, gothic-feeling movie. Richard Lynch, with his searing eyes, gaunt, handsome face, flowing blonde hair and sexy voice was a natural to play the vampire, Anton Voytek. Seeing him come up out of the earth, roaring in pain and anguish of being sealed up in his tomb of earth for nearly 40 years was a very creepy site. I highly recommend this movie for vampire movie fans and for Richard Lynch fans it is a MUST SEE I believe this was really the first time I noticed Richard Lynch. I am not sure if I saw him in anything else, previously, but this movie left me wanting to see him in everything he has/had ever done.
X-Men (2000)
Great Rendition Of A Great Comic Series
The whole cast does a great job in their roles. Wolverine is as irreverent and lovable as he has always been and makes me want to see a movie with him playing an even bigger part in it than he did in this, though he was in this movie a great deal :) I thoroughly enjoyed it and the whole audience cheered and oohed and ahhed and laughed and enjoyed it as much as I did :) Go see it :)
Gladiator (2000)
Very Good Movie
Tears welled up in my eyes. I don't want to give away the ending, for those who haven't seen it yet, but this was a great movie in so many ways. Action, camaraderie, bravery, love for family and friends, treachery and everything you can think of in one sprawling adventure movie that should catapult Russell Crowe into a career that will span decades to come.
Star-studded with Richard Harris, Derek Jacoby, the late Oliver Reed in a very good final performance, David Hemmings and many familiar faces such as Sven Ole Thorson, Rolf Moeller, and Connie Nielsen who has starred in Soldier and the recent hit Mission to Mars.
The movie is around 2.5 hours long but I could not bear to leave my seat for any reason and I am so glad I didn't.
Mission to Mars (2000)
A Sci-Fi Movie That Makes You Care About The Characters
It lets you get to know each character and makes you care about what happens to them, good or bad, throughout the movie. It is a sci-fi movie that makes me think of 2001: A Space Odyssey a lot but it is not so sterile and unemotional. These people are alive and living and loving each other as friends, spouses and just as fellow human beings. The special effects are great but to me, the people made the film and the actors and actresses in this film should be proud of their work. Gary Sinise, Tim Robbins, Connie Nielsen, Jerry O'Connell and all the rest of the cast make you laugh, cry and just enjoy getting to know them and you wish at the end of nearly two hours that they didn't have to leave.
The Evil Dead (1981)
Scary film and the beginning of a great production team.
The Evil Dead is great and lead on to Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness and I have heard that there is a fourth film, Army of Darkness II: Evil Dead IV. I hope so, but only had heard about it on a Bruce Campbell mailing list I am on. Anyway, Evil Dead is a scary movie done on a shoestring that really makes you want to see more and thankfully, the series did keep going. It has also created the Raimi/Tapert/Campbell production team (as I call them) because Sam and Ted Raimi and Robert Tapert get together a lot with Bruce Campbell for other movies and for Campbell's and Ted Raimi's appearances on Hercules and Xena and now in Campbell's show Jack Of All Trades. I think it is a winning team that started out with one of the spookiest movies I have seen.
