Antitrust (2001)
Just awful
I don't write reviews. In fact this is my first for many years and I don't know if it classifies as a review of the film itself but rather a critique of the incompetence and lack of thought that went into the making of this film.
I feel compelled to warn anyone against watching this film if they value the time they have on this planet. Fortunately, after 20 minutes or so I turned off. If I hadn't I might have thrown something at the TV screen in disgust.
The plot is naïve, unworldly and the scripting and dialogue has to be seen to be believed. How Tim Robbins got caught up in this I don't know.
Even more surprising is that I see it won some awards. A "golden goblet". I think a wooden spoon would be appropriate.
I won't say any more except that you should give this a VERY wide berth. How it sits there with a 6 star rating at the time of writing is beyond me.
Alexander (2004)
It really is an awful film
Having read some of the reviews. It seems that someone is trying to coerce readers into writing a good review. This really is a truly awful film and the best review that I can relate to is made by Tun@Beardy.dk who seemed to sum up everything I could say about this movie. I don't normally add reviews to IMDb but really, this film is so pitiful and so "lost in Hollywood" that I felt I had to write something about it.
The actors really are so badly miscast and the dialogue so lacking in any realism that you sometimes wonder whether a team of the Eastenders writers could have done better. Give it a BIG detour and do not waste any time even contemplating whether I am wrong...
The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000)
Surprised
What a surprising film. I was probably in the mood. It's a feel good movie with overtones of "A river runs through it" and "Field of Dreams". Although, I might add not quite as classy. Still if you want a well crafted, happy movie then I'd recommend it. Still, Robert Redford seems determined to one day create a "Shawshank Redemption" and if he keeps on like this, by jove.....I think he'll do it!!
I Married a Strange Person! (1997)
A wild and wacky ride
I caught this movie by accident at 2am and found it highly entertaining. It dashes from one scene to the next at a rate of knots. The animation is good and it is very refreshing to see an adult oriented cartoon despite the bizarre nature of the story. I'll be watching out for more by Bill Plympton in the future.
