Elvis (2022)

A film fit for a King
24 June 2022
This is not your typical movie. It is essentially montage after montage, somewhat of a very long music video...but a very well done one.

A lot of films have been made about Elvis and it is time for another one. He finally got a quality one!

Baz Luhrmann was clearly the right man for the job.

My only minor gripes is that it glossed over his movie career and it merely mentioned the Aloha from Hawaii concert.

This is a must see film.

The Batman (2022)
1/10
Well made but very, very boring
24 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After seeing the trailer, I thought this film looked amazing but it turns out it is one of those movies that shows all the best parts in the trailer.

It is hard to give this movie a 1 star rating because it is very well made but this is easily the most boring Batman film ever made. I enjoyed this movie even less than the Clooney version.

The film has a good look for the most part and is like some of the comics but it is style over substance. The action scenes are very well done but they are very short and few between. If you saw the trailer, you have basically seen them and there will be no surprises.

There are no characters in the movie you care about and Catwoman is annoying and physically unattractive yet they had to force a romance despite the actors having no chemistry.

The Riddler is a serial killer that is murdering corrupt politicians. Do you really care that Batman stops him from killing these evil guys?

One major thing this films lacks, especially considering it is a Batman movie, is a good villain. The Riddler is the main bad guy but he really isn't in the movie that much and never appears on screen with Batman. Even when he is caught, Batman watches outside a window as the police arrest him (this is somewhat shown in trailers). Batman later visits him in Arkham but they are once again separated by glass (also shown in the trailers).

As for the acting, everyone just whispers in the movie, except for the Riddler who will randomly raise his voice in an attempt to act crazy.

Thankfully, Robert Pattinson is no shown as Bruce Wayne much in the movie because he looks like Frankenstein's monster the times he is shown. You'd think it is a good thing to have so much Batman in a movie, but he mostly just stands around and whispers boring conversations.

The worst thing about this movie is how boring it is. Batman is one of the most fun characters ever created but they sure managed to make him dull.

Most boring movie to come out in a long time
25 June 2017
I decided to check this out only because Keanu Reeves was in it. It wasn't worth it.

This movie is just gross and puts out negative vibes but worst of all, it is extremely boring.

It does a poor job of ripping off other movies and tries really hard to be "art" but comes off as dull and pretentious.

This is possibly the worst movie I have ever seen.

Do yourself a favor and skip this garbage.

Solid entertainment of Bruce doing his trademark shtick
25 June 2017
This movie has been getting a lot of hate.

The problem is that is is a good movie but far from a great movie.

What you get is solid entertainment and Bruce Willis returns to acting in the way that made him popular. The problem is that people are used to seeing him do that in really good movies so it looks bad when done in just a decently good movie like this.

This is the type of quirky film that was popular in the 90's but feels a bit tired in this day and age.

Still, it was a very enjoyable way to spend some time.

Low budget but charming
24 April 2017
It is easy to see that this is a very low budget film that comes with some of the faults that low budget films have. If you can accept that and watch it with an open mind, you will enjoy it.

The story is predictable and the bad boy isn't really that bad, but this is a Christian film.

Acting is excellent and it was refreshing to see a movie that is about human relationships instead of the formulamatic nonsense that you see in most movies these days.

Like 1995's Judge Dredd but much worse
6 April 2017
This movie reminded me a lot of Sylvester Stallone's Judge Dredd from 1995 except it is way worse. Judge Dredd was a good bad movie that at least had some fun moments. Rogue One is just drab and boring.

They even managed to make Darth Vader boring. When Darth finally appears, he looks small and his voice seems off.

None of the actors had any charm or charisma. The only one with any kind of personality was the robot.

The writing and dialogue were just stupid. The filmmakers were clearly more concerned with forcing a diverse cast on us than making a good movie.

This movie was so lame and boring that I could barely finish it.

Star Wars for the politically correct generation
18 December 2015
I didn't know exactly what to expect but when "Star Wars" is in the title, you would expect it to be at least half-ways decent.

As a fan of the original trilogy, I wanted to like this and figured it would at least be better than the prequels. I was wrong.

What Superman Returns is to the Superman franchise, this is to the Star Wars franchise.

This is a bland rehash of Star Wars with a politically correct agenda. By the time they to the guy that gives the Hitler-inspired speech, I was sick of the silly agenda.

This movie was pretty much crap.

Shows like this is why I prefer youtube to TV these days
15 December 2015
This show revolves around talent manager Marki Costello, supposedly a top Hollywood manager.

Let me start out with the little that is good about this show: It is a somewhat interesting look into the Hollywood industry and could be insightful for anyone that wants to be an actor or in the industry.

However, it does show you some of what is bad about Hollywood. Pretentious, plastic-looking, old people trying to look young. This describes all the ladies working in Marki's office as well as Marki herself.

One scene had Marki telling an older lady that wanted to be her client that she didn't have the youth or talent. Marki is right about the lady, but Marki herself is old and untalented.

This is a cheap, tacky, typical reality show and I have no idea why anyone would be interested in it, especially these days with so much alternative entertainment out there.

The beauty is these days lots of people are creating great content for youtube and finding an audience and they don't have to go through gatekeepers like Marki Costello.

Supergirl (2015–2021)
Unoriginal feminist bunk
30 May 2015
I watched the pilot after seeing the 6-minute teaser posted online. It turned out all the best parts were posted in the teaser and most of the rest of the pilot was just boring filler.

This is really just an unoriginal straight copy of things you have seen in Superman movies.

The acting is fine. Not really crazy that Jimmy Olson is now a black stud beaming with confidence. The costume is OK but wish it were a little brighter and had the S with yellow. Visual effects are OK I guess for TV. Not much stands out about this show other than it's relation to the Superman lore.

Pretty funny how this feminist propaganda can only copy things from the male version.

I actually had hoped to like this. Maybe it will get better but the pilot failed to impress and didn't make me want to see more.

Dark, boring, and unfunny
9 June 2014
I didn't expect much of this film and I had a hard time sitting through the whole thing. It was hard to get past the opening which was one of the stupidest opening movie scenes since Grown Ups 2.

Zach Galifianakis stars in this while Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms play supporting characters who are fairly unnecessary. Even the character of Chow is more important to the film than Cooper or Helm's characters.

Chow was a fun character in the other movies. In this film he is just dark and bitter like the movie itself.

This film is a comedy without any real comedy. There is just swearing instead of funny dialogue. It is also an action movie without much action. Mostly random violent shootings, however, there is one thrilling scene in Vegas in the vein of Mission Impossible.

On a positive, the film does have some very nice scenery of California.

This movie is trash and you deserve to feed your mind something better.

Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth (2013 TV Special)
3/10
I wanted to like it...
11 March 2014
I am not a big boxing fan but I have always been a Mike Tyson fan. I already knew much of his life story, but I figured this would be a great chance to hear it from the man himself. I just wish it would have been more entertaining.

The audio seems very poor. Granted, Tyson has a very weird way of speaking, but I don't normally have this much trouble understanding him. This is very hard to watch without subtitles.

Also, this was directed by Spike Lee and Mike mentions him several times. It seems that Spike has influenced Mike with bad feelings about white people. In fact, I think many of the lines were written for Mike.

Mike does a good job of performing despite having a bit of a manic presence. I still respect him, I just maybe like him a little less after seeing this.

SAF3 (2013–2014)

A Boring Soap Opera
18 December 2013
I have been a big fan of Dolph Lundgren since 1985 but SAF3 is making me re-think continuing on as a fan. Dolph has made plenty of garbage before, but this takes the cake.

SAF3 is very cheap and melodramatic but the biggest problem is that the show is boring. I wouldn't mind good cheesy fun but this show is no fun.

The show seems like it was shot to be a 30 minute show, but they had to stretch it to an hour. Every scene is stretched out and completely pointless.

I am sure Dolph is hoping no one watches this show, but he doesn't have much to worry about, the most anyone will watch of SAF3 is 5-10 minutes.

Don't see this movie if you want to see Dolph, Randy, or Vinnie
17 October 2013
because they are hardly in it. This movie is marketed to make you think it is an action-fest with these three guys, but it is really a boring movie about 2 wannabe big shot drug dealers played by unknown actors. One looks like David Swimmer and the other looks like James Franco.

This film actually played in theaters where I live and I wasted money seeing it.

Camera-work is extremely shaky and amateurish looking. Vinnie Jones is hardly in it and the scenes with him are pointless. There is also a lot of pointless and contrived nudity, swearing, and poorly done scenes of people getting shot.

This movie is complete garbage.

Dark, Violent, Cheesy
19 July 2013
I like Keanu Reeves and I love martial arts movies and I went to this without knowing what to expect. It starts out very violent and dark setting the tone for the rest of the film. It quickly became apparent why this isn't showing in theaters in the USA (I watched in the Philippines). Most of the dialog isn't in English and this movie has plenty of cheesy moments, the cheesiest is probably when Keanu suddenly growls into the camera. I am sure they would insist that be cut out if it were to be theatrically released in the USA. People in the theater started laughing.

This movie has a story that has been done in a lot of other films and seems to borrow heavily from Karate Kid III.

Keanu's character is a rich, voyeuristic, evil guy but they never give any reasons why he is such an evil man, other than the script says he should be evil.

Most of the scenes of Keanu are just him watching Tiger with a serious look on his face until he finally gets off his butt towards the end of the film.

Tiger Chen lacks the look and charisma of a leading man.

The bottom line is this is a film that you would expect Steven Seagal to make, not Keanu Reeves. I guess Keanu has been too busy making movies so he hasn't had the time to watch movies, otherwise he would know this has been done a million times before, mostly in straight to video movies in the early 90's.

Wow...this movie is dumb.
26 August 2012
This film is one of the biggest pieces of crap I have ever seen. Both the leading ladies are fugly, especially Uma Thurman but she is supposed to be beautiful. I also love how they try to portray smoking as cool, as if this movie was made in the 1940's.

The premise is thin and completely moronic. I can't believe someone was paid to write this garbage. It's not even good mindless fun and entertainment.

Honestly, I really found nothing good in this film and I just want to warn others to avoid it at all costs.

This is clearly a film aimed at very stupid women.

Great action scenes but....
13 October 2008
This movie is beautifully shot with some of the greatest fight scenes of any film in recent years. Anytime there is a fight, even the brief ones, the film shines. However, the rest of the film is awful despite the excellent photography. This movie is plagued by bad acting and bad story. This movie is extremely stupid. Every non-action scene is terrible.

That being said it is still worth watching for the fight scenes. The fights go at a fast pace and are pretty believable. They are somewhat similar to Flashpoint and SPL.

This is an absurdly silly movie that expects the audience to be morons but the fights are well-done.

Flash Point (2007)

One of the best films to come out in a long time
13 October 2008
Flashpoint is a beautifully shot film that moves a long at a fast pace. I was never much of a Donnie Yen fan but I have been converted to one after seeing this film. Hollywood needs to bring him back, at least as an action choreographer. The action scenes in this film are far more sophisticated than anything Hollywood is doing.

Wilson Yip did an amazing job as director. It's a shame this didn't get a U.S. theatrical release. If Hollywood is smart, they will recruit him.

Bingbing Fan is a beauty that should also be brought to Hollywood.

Flashpoint doesn't break new ground in terms of it being a typical cops and gangsters flick, but it is as good as any of them.

The fights are excellent and realistic.

Flashpoint is highly recommended for HK movie fans.

A well-done thriller
18 July 2008
I heard a lot of early word of mouth that The Dark Knight was great but I was skeptical. I feel Batman Begins was way over-rated with slow pacing and poorly done action scenes. The Dark Knight is a vast improvement.

This is a superhero epic unlike any other. The Dark Knight stays extremely true to its source material and takes it seriously. The acting is excellent and everyone is perfectly cast. The fight scenes are brief but well-done and the film is filled with tension and can get very violent. The film is not for kids.

Bale seems to have grown into the role and Nolan seems to have improved as a director. Heath Ledger was always one of my least favorite actors but I will give credit where credit is due and admit he actually did a good job as the Joker.

My one minor complaint that if I had one would be Maggie Gyllenhaal's face. I would prefer a more attractive actress. I get that they hired here because she looks a little like Tom Cruise's wife.

If you are a Batman fan, The Dark Kinght won't disappoint. This is the best Batman film since Batman(1989).

Seven Swords (2005)

Barely watchable
18 June 2007
After the opening sequence of this film I thought I was in store for a stylish piece of cinema. It turned out to be a piece of crap. The film has some good photography but is plagued by a silly story, too many characters, and kung fu sequences that just aren't very good. I would rather watch old Bruce Lee fight scenes than watch the generic, lame fights in this film.

Tsui Hark's best days are far behind him, much like John Woo. Personally, I think his best films by far are Double Team and Knock Off.

The bottom line is Seven Swords is a bit of a bore.

Has nothing to do with the real Marco Polo
9 March 2006
This film has its moments and Don Diamont makes a good swashbuckler. However, it is extremely low budget and very slow at times. I watched this film because I am interested in history and Marco Polo's adventures in China, however, he doesn't get anywhere near china in the film.

The only recognisable actor in the film is Jack Palance. Obvisiously he owed someone a favor.

This is a film with plenty of flaws that manages to entertaining in brief moments. Still i can't recommend it. It is a turkey.

This would be best viewed on Mystery Sciece Theater 3000.

Too long of an engagement
18 December 2004
If you like slow moving, boring films, go see A Very Long Engagement. I left the theater wishing I had went to Blade Trinity instead. I have many complaints about this film. It is a war movie free of scenes of suspense or action. I didn't care about any of the characters. It was confusing. The run time is too long. It should have been edited way down. I just wanted her to reunite with her lover so the film could end. If you must see this garbage, please at least wait for the DVD. There really isn't anything special or unique that you are going to see in this film.

I give it a 3 out of 10.

The worst film I have seen since the Matrix Revolutions
24 November 2004
The film is a dreadful bore filled with cheesy special effects and lousy young actors. This is the stupidest movie to come out in years. Please avoid it.

I paid a dollar to rent this and I feel ripped off.

Power glove may be the most retarded concept in movies I have ever seen.

The fighting in this movie sucks.

Absolutely dreadful.

I can not emphasize enough to how bad this film is and

why you should avoid it.

The only decent thing about the film is the women aren't bad looking.

Atrocious actors combined with slow direction make for a dreadful film
12 June 2004
This is the first Ben Affleck film I have ever seen and I would like to make it my last. 2 hours of watching Ben Affleck is 2 hours too long.

As for Uma Thurman, why does she keep getting cast in films when she is ugly as sin?

John Woo's slow direction doesn't help this film. It is possible that he is washed up. Either that or it is just a fluke that he directed a few excellent films(Hardboiled, Hard Target).

Shame on you Mr. Woo for make such a stinker.

Even though Affleck looks like a decent sized guy, he is unconvincing as an action hero. The site of him throwing guys throw windows is laughable.

Avoid this film at all costs.

The Punisher (2004)
Pales in comparison to the 1989 Dolph Lundgren film
19 April 2004
I wasn't going to compare the two films because I expected them to be totally different. The first one was a great film but was not faithful to the comic. The new film has even less to do with the comic with the exception of the costume. The is supposed to be a dark film, so they set the film in the dark, moody city of Tampa.

The film is mindless. The assassins come just as Castle and his father are looking at their gun collection. Isn't that convenient?

Also see Punisher walk around in his leather trench coat. I didn't know Tampa was so chilly.

In this film we see Punisher with his wacky roomates, a nerd, a fat guy, and an attractive waitress(as if she would really hang out with these losers).

The homosexual viewers are treated to lots of shots of Jane's pants riding low so we can see his crack and "moustache" A sexy Punisher? Is there a need for that?

The 1989 Lundgren film was actually more true to the comic character. At least they got Dolph's hair to look like the character from the comic. In the 1989 film, they got right to the action and into the world of the Punisher. In the new film we have to sit through a long, boring set up.

Do yourselves a favor. Just rent the 1989 Dolph Lundgren film and skip this new Punisher disapointment.

Not exactly good, but not horrible either
28 July 2003
This is a zero budget film that looks amateurish in many parts. The Barbarian is mediocre at best, but it does have a star with a ton of potential - Mike O'Hearn. Hopefully O'Hearn goes on to bigger and better things, he certainly deserves to. He has the face, the body, and even the voice. He could be a superstar with some serious acting coaching and the right film roles.
